City of Worcester Staff Assistant I in Worcester, Massachusetts
The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for the position of Staff Assistant I for the Transportation and Mobility Department. Under the direction of the Commissioner of Transportation and Mobility, the position provides administrative, financial and customer service support for the Department. The Staff Assistant I is responsible for front facing customer service, supporting invoice processing and payment tracking, payroll, meeting scheduling, records management, will support the Off-Street Parking Board meetings, and will be assigned to complete special projects. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: \ Knowledge of using software and databases to track, monitor, and reconcile revenues and expenditures \ Knowledge of the common principles and practices of accounting \ Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite \ Proficient business mathematical skills \ Proficient recordkeeping and organizational skills \ Proficient customer service skills and ability to interact with members of the public, job applicants, etc. \ Proficient written and verbal communication skills \ Ability to work independently and as part of a team \ Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks in a detailed and timely manner \ Ability to prioritize and perform a variety of financial and personnel processes in a detailed and timely manner \ Ability to identify issues and effectively problem solve \ Ability to maintain confidentiality \ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations, organizations, and interests. \ Ability to take initiative to identify opportunities for process improvement \ Ability to learn, be adaptable, flexible, and detail-oriented MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: \ High School diploma or equivalent \ One (1) year of comparable work experience \ Experience working with financial information such as billing, collections, payable/receivables, etc. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: \ Associate\'s degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline \ Two (2) years of experience in customer service and/or office support \ Three (3) years of experience with processing and/or managing accounts payable \ Working knowledge of Workday software Click Here to Read Full Job Description
