Community Healthlink Residential Counselor in Worcester, Massachusetts

Community Healthlink (CHL) is looking for a full-time 37.5 hrs/wk) Residential Counselor in Worcester, MA.
Thayer Detox is an acute, intensive, inpatient treatment program for men and women 18 and older who suffer from substance use disorders. The program provides individual comprehensive case management services to each client along with at least four treatment groups per day, run by all team members (residential counselors/recovery specialists, case managers, clinicians, nurses).
Detox also offers Enhanced Acute Treatment Services (EATS) to support individuals also dealing with active symptoms of a mental illness. Services for these clients include daily individual counseling as well as a psychiatric consultation with an MD or NP.
The Residential Counselor works closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide structure and support to clients in the Detox Program. The RC monitors clients 24/7 to ensure safety for all. RC’s also facilitates groups to encourage and motivate our clients to keep fighting for their recovery.
Must have the ability to work various shifts and weekends
Provide supervision of clients while on the unit
Demonstrate appropriate and respectful interactions with patients and the community as outlined in agency policies
Complete all appropriate paperwork in a timely and accurate manner
Facilitate client intakes and discharges when necessary
Search clients’ belongings and supervise drug test screenings as needed
Transport clients to and from appointments as required
Facilitate psycho-social groups for the clients as requested
Demonstrate positive communication skills in dealing with clients, visitors, and other members of the health care team.

C02: Residential Counselor I: High School Diploma/GED/HiSet required; Associates degree preferred
C04: Residential Counselor II: Requires a Bachelor’s degree; preferably in the field of psychology or human services
Good communication and time management
Previous experience with the program’s population preferred
Knowledge of the Massachusetts continuum of care for substance abuse
CDAC/LDAC preferred
