Community Healthlink Residential Counselor-Worcester Community Housing Program in Worcester, Massachusetts

Community Healthlink (CHL) is looking for a full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Residential Counselor at our Worcester site.

Worcester Community Housing provides long term housing, support and treatment for families in recovery from addictions to drugs and alcohol. The primary goal and purpose for this program is to provide a coordinated set of activities which assist families to stabilize in housing, attain long term sobriety, reunify with their children, and obtain the skills and supports they need to live in their apartments.

The Residential Counselor works with clients to assist in activities of daily living and foster a sense of safety in the program. The Residential Counselor runs evidence-based groups, completes required paperwork, and carries a caseload of clients to facilitate the implementation of their treatment plans. Work related travel reimbursement

  • Providing case management services for up to ten families in a thirty-eight apartment community living program for formerly homeless families in recovery from substance abuse.

  • Documentation of case management in electronic record.

  • Weekly meetings and phone contact to monitor progress in the service plan.

  • Attendance/participation at staff meetings, supervisions and trainings.

  • Facilitation of 1-2 weekly educational groups for our residents

  • Position includes outreach to families

  • Conduct phone check-ins

  • Document of services provided

  • Maintain up to date client records

  • Be a liaison with outside service providers

  • Participate in team meetings and required trainings.

  • Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors

  • Grade 5- Residential Counselor I: HSD/GED/HiSet required; Associates degree preferred

  • Grade 6- Residential Counselor II:Requires a Bachelor’s degree; preferably in the field of psychology or human services

  • 1 years experience with residential or community substance abuse programs

  • This position requires transporting clients as an essential function of the role. A current, valid US Driver’s license and a review of your motor vehicle record is required for a determination of your eligibility to drive for this work related purpose. A CHL vehicle may be available but if you will be using your personal vehicle you will be required to provide proof of current registration and inspection.

  • Must be able to pass a CORI background check
