State of Massachusetts Psychologist IV in Worcester, Massachusetts

Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking an experienced clinical psychologist to provide clinical risk screening and assessment, psychodiagnostics assessment, supervision of psychology services provided to designated units/program/caseload, interdisciplinary team consultation, and individual and group treatment using evidence-based interventions for people with Serious Mental Illness (and co-occurring SU and medical disorders). Participation in Psychology Post-Doctoral, Internship and Advance Practicum programs is desirable. _Work Schedule:_ This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. The selected candidate will work from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The days off are Saturday and Sunday. /_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_/ * Conducts Psychology Admission Assessments and identifies patients in need of risk evaluations through use of the DMH screening tools, risk history, CORI review, and patient interview. * Performs Risk Assessment functions for the Interdisciplinary Team, implementing the Risk Identification Tool (RIT), Team Risk Review (TRR), Initial Risk Assessment (IRA), Independent Forensic Risk Assessment referrals (IFRA), , Suicide Risk Assessment (SRA) and Fire Setting Risk Assessment (FRA) procedures according to departmental, hospital and DMH standards. * Tracks patient Level of Risk Review through use of MHIS or paper DMH Assessments. * Provides careful and complete data gathering, regarding historical information related to individual patient and through interview procedures; completes associated MHIS or paper DMH assessments. * Completes Initial (Violence) Risk Assessments and makes Independent Forensic Risk Assessment referrals with associated documentation in a manner that facilitates timely patient privilege changes as well as discharge. * Integrates findings of team clinicians and consultants in risk assessments, Team Risk Review formulation and risk mitigation recommendations. * Contributes to and documents the risk management strategies such as relapse prevention and crisis prevention plans related to patient privilege and discharge decisions. * Formulates the contribution of biological, situational and interpersonal factors in risk assessment. * Provides individually adapted evidence-based individual and group treatment that supports patient recovery and addresses risk mitigation. * Takes responsibility for supervision of assigned psychologists, post-docs, interns and or advance practicum students. * Participates in behavioral analysis that contributes to treatment planning, crisis-prevention planning, and relapse-prevention planning. * Consults with interdisciplinary team and provides initial and interval (Periodic Review) psychological assessments of adults that contribute to the patient and treatment team collaboration in formulating goals for recovery that are consistent with the patient’s current clinical condition, functional needs, and strengths. /_Required Qualifications_:/ * Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of the symptoms of mental and/or emotional disorders (including risk assessment: interview, psychological testing and neuropsychological testing.) * Ability to analyze observational, interview and psychological test data to draw conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations. * Skilled in applying knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of psychotherapy (and related evidence-based practices). * Capacity to apply knowledge of motivation, basic behavioral analysis and principles associated with reinforcement techniques. * Knowledge of the methods of general report writing, statistical methods and techniques including sampling. * Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential matters appropriately. * Knowledge of the ethical principles, and standards of practice of the Professional Psychologist /_Preferred Qualifications_:/ * Inpatient experience providing psychology services including risk assessment and psychological testing services to people with serious mental illness. * Knowledge and experience working with the forensic evaluation process and interest in working with inpatients committed by the courts for forensic evaluations. * Skilled in crisis intervention and the delivery of individual and group treatment services to people with serious mental illness and acute substance abuse problems. * Capable of providing Psychological Services in American Sign Language and/or Spanish as well as English. _ _ _About Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH):_ Located on over 20 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient, and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations. WRCH provides inpatient services to 290 adults and 30 adolescents, inclusive of a Deaf Inpatient Mental Health Service program for 10 patients. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Current and valid registration as a Psychologist by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Psychology. Applicants must also have at least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a Licensed Psychologist in the application of psychological principles and techniques in a recognized agency providing psychological services or treatment, of which (B) at least one year must have included supervision over Post-doctoral Psychologists-in-training and/or Psychological Assistants. Based on assignment, must meet the eligibility requirements for Designated Forensic Psychologist in 104 CMR 33.04(3)(b). Special Requirements: Based on assignment, travel may be required.
