Description and Responsibilities
Open Sky’s Autism Spectrum Disorder program serves adults 18 and older who are aging out of school based programs, that benefit from continued supports to assist in achieving their life goals and dreams. Services provided to individuals include assessment, case management, individual supports, employment/education supports, and in home services. All members of the team are highly trained with extensive experience in clinical models and working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We are known for the rigor in which we train, supervise, and support our staff to deliver the best possible service and treatment.
The ASD program is located in Worcester, but serves individuals living in the communities of Central, South Central and North Central Massachusetts, so travel is required for this position. Travel is eligible for mileage reimbursement!
Peer Specialists have lived experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder and are able to forge mutually beneficial relationships with people served while maintaining strong boundaries/ethics. The Peer Specialist p rovides direct peer support to individuals and families by sharing personal experiences with the purpose and intent to build trust and collaboration with people served. They work with individuals in developing, implementing and monitoring personal goals using a self-directed wellness planning process.
Other Key responsibilities:
Cultivate mutual, non-directive, supportive relationships that promote empowerment and self-learning while maintaining appropriate boundaries .
Assist in identifying and using strengths and interests to develop, implement, and monitor interventions and personal recovery goals.
Support the development and maintenance of key skills including stress management, self-determination, self-advocacy, decision making, and goal planning through the use of their ISP.
Facilitate the development of valued community roles including group memberships, employment, or volunteer experiences.
Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
Driver’s License, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation required.
Must have lived experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Must have the ability to forge mutually beneficial relationships with people served while maintaining strong boundaries/ethics.
Must have Peer Specialsit Certification upon hire or obtain Peer Specialist Certification within one year of employment, required.Certification provided by and paid for by Open Sky!
