Bear Mountain Health Care Interim Respiratory Director in Worcester, Massachusetts

POSITION SUMMARY

Directs all activities of the Respiratory Department including clinical assessments, record keeping, monthly/quarterly reporting, compliance with treatment plans, compliance with state licensure requirements and all Clinical policies and Procedures. Provides quality resident care to enable the residents to achieve and maintain the maximum level of ability. Functions as a liaison between all disciplines. Ensure department adheres to all state and federal regulations.

Essential Functions

· Ensure proper respiratory staffing 24/7

· Educate staff on Medicare/Managed Care/Medicaid guidelines documentation

· Monitor all dept documentation for compliance through chart audits

· In-service as needed and complete annual evaluations for the Respiratory dept staff

· Complete annual vent competencies with Respiratory and Nursing Dept employees

· Complete VENT authorizations timely and submit to Central Business Office

· Complete Monthly and Quarterly DPH reports timely and submit

· Attend center meetings including but not limited to QAPI and Care Plan meetings.

· Review Vent and Trach referrals as needed for admission.

· Conduct AED drills each shift per policy

· Work as a Respiratory Therapist as needed

· Follows established department guidelines and recognized procedure and carries out a variety of duties to administer treatments of a complex nature to residents

· Sets up, applies and administers all forms of respiratory care as directed using a complete range of respiratory equipment, including positive and negative pressure ventilators. Controls such factors as respiratory ratio, volume and percentage of oxygen on ventilator residents, continuously monitoring resident condition.

· Maintains required records, charts, etc. Records treatments and therapies given in a timely and appropriate manner.

· Responsible for reviewing physicians orders pertaining to respiratory care

· Assists in reconditioning and maintenance of equipment

· Sets up and maintains volume ventilators as ordered by the physician

· May participate as an instructor in teaching basic respiratory care procedures and routines to respiratory care students who have occasion to handle respiratory equipment

· Remains actively certified in Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation. CPR

· Remains current by attention to relevant literature, exchange of information and obtaining CEU credits

· Applies “5 Star” customer service approach in all aspects of job

· Committed to working with residents and families to develop and implement strategies that promote person-centered care

· Reports any known or suspected violations of policy and procedures, regulations or standards of conduct

· Performs additional duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

· Current license in the state of practiced in Respiratory Care required

· Graduate of an AMA approved school for Respiratory Care and/or hospital based experience and training which exceeds 5 years

· Successful completion of National Board of Respiratory Care (CRTT or RRT) exam preferred

· Strong written and verbal communication skills required
