What you’ll do as a Fiber Splicer
Splice fiber optic cables in both aerial and underground telecom infrastructure.
Independently build, prep, splice, tag and test new cables to meet client requirements.
Locate and repair cables faults to maintain existing cable network without causing signal failure interruptions.
Validate and test end-to-end service provisioning for the cable network.
Confirm accurate cable terminations on cross connect, patch panels, hubs and routers.
Review site surveys, condition discrepancy reports, design drawings, technical manuals for cable installation feasibility.
You will maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies
What you’ll need
To be 18 years of age or older
Authorization to work in the United States for this company
Valid driver’s license
2+ years of experience in fiber splicing required
Proficient in the use of all test and splicing equipment and must know how to use computer and all software used by the company concerning the completion of fiber optic projects.
Knowledge of hot cuts and solid OTDR testing
Ribbon splicing knowledge preferred
Physical abilities & exposures
Routinely: Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, climb sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping while on shift.
Occasionally: Employees performing these job functions may be required to lift or move up to 10 up to 50 pounds.
