State of Massachusetts Assistant District Attorney - County District Court Supervisor in Worcester, Massachusetts

  • An Assistant District Attorney (ADA) represents the Commonwealth in accordance with the District Attorney’s statutory authority, is an employee of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and serves at the pleasure of the District Attorney. ADAs may be assigned from time-to-time to any District Court within the Middle District. In addition, a District Court Supervisor: · Represents the Commonwealth at all stages of criminal prosecution in District Court, including but not limited to handling all aspects of arraignments; pre-trial hearings and conferences; evidentiary and non-evidentiary motions; discovery; pleas; bench and jury trials, etc. · Works closely with colleagues, victim witness advocates, law enforcement, court personnel, the defense bar, community partners and the public to ensure a successful, holistic approach that balances seeking justice through tough and fair prosecution and preventing crime with community-based outreach, while ensuring the safety and well-being of victims, defendants, and the communities the DA serves. · Keeps abreast of court decisions and legislation affecting Massachusetts law. · Understands applicable rules, laws, and guidelines, including the Rules of Criminal Procedure, the Massachusetts Rules of Professional Conduct, the Massachusetts Guide to Evidence, and the mandates of the Victims’ Bill of Rights. · Interacts with victims, defendants, families, and witnesses with kindness and professionalism. · Has the ability to manage and excel in high-stress, dynamic, and fast-paced environments while exhibiting a calm, professional demeanor. *Qualifications: * · Juris Doctorate and license to practice (in good standing) in Massachusetts. · 2 years experience as a supervisor in a district court preferred. · Demonstrated leadership skills with proven ability to build a team and foster a positive, collaborative working environment. · Self-starter who pays sharp attention to detail, exercises discretion with confidential information, and is a team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. · Excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize time sensitive matters and meet all deadlines.
