Ethos Veterinary Health Veterinary Operating Room Assistant in Woburn, Massachusetts

Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital, located in Woburn, MA, is looking for a full-time Operating Room Assistant to join the team. This is an entry level position and a great opportunity to join our team of caring and compassionate professionals. We offer benefits starting on your first day!

The Central Sterile/Pack Room is the center of all activity involving the cleaning and sterilizing of supplies and equipment needed for veterinary specialty surgery and other patient care areas. It is responsible for the cleaning, sterilization, set-up and break-down of all surgical instruments, equipment and maintaining gas and gravity sterilizers. This position is vital in maintaining sterile conditions for all surgeries performed within our specialty hospital. Pack room Attendants interact with personnel from all areas of the hospital and support multiple teams.

Essential Functions

  • Collaboration with department supervisors to ensure adequate sterile supplies for daily case load

  • Decontaminating, inspecting, assembly, wrapping, sterilization and distribution of surgical supplies and equipment to appropriate areas

  • Disinfecting and setting up surgical suites

  • Use of steam and ETO sterilizers

  • Equipment maintenance and inspection

  • Instrument inspection and maintenance

  • Inventory control

  • Monitoring of expiration dates on sterile equipment and supplies

  • Routine testing of autoclaves and reporting of results

  • Disinfection of linens for use in the OR

  • Scheduled detailed cleaning tasks of equipment, ORs, and packroom to maintain proper cleanliness standards of a surgical area

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent interpersonal, influential and organizational skills

  • Must show initiative and ability to prioritize workloads under stressful situations

  • Motivated to work independently and in team settings

  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining a high attention to detail

  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, processing, and sterilization is preferred

  • CRCST/CBSPD and/or experience in a veterinary specialty surgical service preferred but not required

    Compensation:

  • $16 - $21 pending skills assessment leveling
