Scientific Systems Company, Inc. Senior Test Engineer - Multisensory Perception in Woburn, Massachusetts

SSCI is looking for a Senior Test Engineer with an established background in software development, software deployment, hardware integration, and testing to develop modular, robust autonomy software for unmanned air and ground systems and lead testing efforts to validate these technologies in real-world environments. This position requires U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for U.S. Dept. of Defense Security Clearance.

US Citizenship and eligibility for DoD Security Clearance are required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead small teams (3-5 people) of engineers and operators to integrate and field test perceptual autonomy technologies on physical systems including unmanned aerial and ground vehicles.

  • Assume technical leadership over system software architecture and development tasks, responsible for creating and maintaining modular frameworks for interoperability and extensibility of various sensing, decision making, and control components.

  • Work as part of a team to develop, integrate, and field test advanced technologies and system software in the areas of perception, computer vision, and autonomy.

  • Contribute technical materials and help develop new concepts for proposals and white papers, as well as present materials to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • PhD or MS with 4+ years of relevant experience in:

  • computer vision

  • autonomous robotics

  • AI/ML

  • or related field

  • Proficiency with C++ (C++17 preferred) and Python

  • Familiarity developing with ROS1, ROS2, DDS, or similar middleware

  • Experience implementing and testing computer vision or autonomy algorithms on real-world systems

  • Familiarity with collaborative development tools and practices (e.g. agile development, Dev[Sec]Ops, gitflow, CI/CD)

  • Small team leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Good oral and written communication skills a must

Desired Skills

  • Proficiency with standard tools used for computer vision, AI, robotics, and software development (e.g. TensorFlow, CUDA, AirSim/Unreal, Gazebo, CMake)

  • Experience with UAV systems is a strong plus

  • Familiarity with HMI development -- ATAK experience is highly desirable

  • Part 107 FAA Remote Pilot Certification
