MKS Instruments Inc Senior Compliance Engineer in Wilmington, Massachusetts

A Day in Your Life at MKS: (Summary & Objectives)

As an SENIOR PRODUCT COMPLIANCE ENGINEER at MKS Instruments, you will partner with cross functional technical teams and external compliance testing facilities to drive regulatory product compliance and support sustainability initiatives for multiple product lines and technologies. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager of Engineering.

You Will Make an Impact By: (Responsibilities)

  • Conducts internal compliance testing, leading efforts to solve engineering safety issues resulting in compliance testing

  • Serves as MKS interface between 3rd party test houses, quoting, scheduling, and coordinating testing

  • Ensures product designs meet applicable regulation requirements including certification, ongoing testing and processing requirements

  • Maintains regulatory approvals and resolves compliance issues with design and manufacturing engineering

  • Ensure third-party labs effectively provide required reports, certificates, and data based on compliance tests

Skills You Bring: (Required Skills)

  • B.S. degree in a related field (EE preferred), or a minimum of 5+ years of equivalent work experience focused on product compliance testing

  • Experienced with LVD, EMC/EMI directives, and harmonized standards (61010-1, 61326-1, Semi S2, etc…)

  • Working knowledge of global regulations (FCC, CE, KC, UL, RoHS, REACH, CA65, EPA TSCA, WEEE, China RoHS, PFAS, and others) across multiple industries (commercial and industrial products)

Preferred Skills:

  • Comfortable in environments that depend on influence to drive outcomes

  • Excels in tackling complex problems and synthesizing them into actionable solutions

  • Knowledgeable with hands-on troubleshooting test experience (LVD, EMC/EMI)

  • Easily handles project multitasking with timelines

  • Able to travel approximately 5% annually as needed to support regulatory product compliance testing
