This individual will be involved in the UniFirst Corporate Support Services Safety Department, engaged in the development and implementation of Health and Safety programs at the Regional and Location levels in order to maintain compliance with safety regulations and Safety Culture Continual Improvement process. They will conduct audits, training, and engagement strategies at UniFirst locations across the United States and Canada as assigned.
Responsibilities:
Interpret OSHA regulations
Monitor and audit internal programs for Safety Training Compliance reports
Develop new programs, procedures and training to improve and maintain safe working conditions for UniFirst Team Partners
Be comfortable presenting training and new initiatives to a wide audience, from senior management to front line workers
Work as a liaison between UniFirst and Local, State, and Federal agencies if needed
Provide expert assistance in the event of agency visits
Create and file accurate reports in a timely manner as needed to agencies
Develop and provide educational materials to a wide audience
Work in conjunction with other corporate offices and provide a safety perspective for upgrading and changing system and processes
Demonstrate and assist with good safety practices at locations
Investigate and evaluate new products, processes, software, that can improve safety, particularly in ergonomics, in UniFirst locations
Evaluate engineering modifications of machinery for improved safety
Use software to analyze data for significant trending
Be an active participant of the Corporate safety committee and ERT
Perform safety audits in conjunction with local managers and provide input for corrective actions
Conduct JHAs, HA’s, Risk Assessments, Ergonomics assessments
Coordinate Safety Ambassador, Safety Committee, activities for assigned region(s) and communicate consistency both up and down stream.
Qualifications
Experience
5 years of industrial/manufacturing experience
Professional safety certification (CSP or similar) or willingness to obtain certification required
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
OSHA and compliance regulation experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to interact with labor, management, and outside consultants and governmental entities
Professional and helpful attitude
Willingness to collaborate with others and problem-solve
Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain reasonable deadlines
Openness to training in other Health and Safety areas
Ability to identify and correct unsafe actions
Skilled in the Root Cause Analysis process, mitigation, and corrective strategies
Knowledgeable in, and skilled the implementation of the hierarchy of controls
Education
Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year college required, Safety and Health or related degree preferred.
Additional Requirements
Travel up to 50%
Clean driving record
Ability to obtain passport for Canadian travel
Experience with Origami preferable
Knowledgeable in Third-Party Compliance preferable
