Textron Systems in Wilmington MA has a long history ofdeveloping game-changing capabilities for our US military customers. We are in the middle of significant programgrowth in both out Tactical and Strategic business lines, and we are lookingfor outstanding engineers across multiple disciplines.

The Mechanical Engineering Manager is a Senior MechanicalEngineer position with significant process and people managementresponsibilities. This manager will havedirect supervisory responsibility for all Mechanical Engineers in theWilmington Applied Technologies & Advanced Programs (ATAP) engineeringorganization. The manager will beresponsible for ensuring that programs have the required electrical engineeringstaff, skills, tools and resources to fulfil program requirements. The manager will work with the MechanicalEngineering team on all training, certification, best practices, processimprovement, as well as job satisfaction, objective setting, performancefeedback and career growth.

The manager is also responsible for ensuring that all mechanical engineeringactivities comply with Textron Systems Policies and Procedures and StandardWork.

The Mechanical Engineering Manager will also participate inprogram execution through mentoring of more junior engineers, participating inpeer reviews and design reviews, and direct execution of engineering tasks asneeded on programs.

Primaryresponsibilities include:

  • MaintainingMechanical Engineer staffing levels for Wilmington.

  • Full time,coops, interns, contractors

  • Hiring,on-boarding, forecasting

  • MaintainingMechanical Engineer skills and engagement via

  • Periodicperformance management (objectives, reviews, feedback etc.) in coordinationwith Programs

  • Regularcommunication (meetings, discussions, escalation and resolution of issues)

  • Skillsplanning and training

  • MaintainingMechanical Engineering Standards via

  • Active participationin a Textron Systems Mechanical Engineering process working group maintaining policies,procedures, templates, training and tools for electrical engineers.

  • Staffingprogram tasks with Mechanical Engineers via

  • Coordinationwith Program Managers and Program Engineers on assigning mechanical engineeringstaff to program activities.

  • Workingacross the Textron Systems Enterprise to leverage unique skills and loadbalance of staff.

  • Monitoring departmentperformance

  • Analysis ofQuality metrics associated with process compliance

  • Solicitationand analysis of internal customers feedback (program teams)

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • B. S. in MechanicalEngineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience OR M. S. in MechanicalEngineering with a minimum of 8 years’ experience.

  • Robustunderstanding of Engineering processes and best practices

  • Experiencewith Process Improvement methodologies

  • Excellentcommunication and people skills

  • Data-drivendecision making

  • An existingU.S. Security Clearance is desired. The abilityto obtain one is required.
