Overview:

Perform a variety of complex chemical, machining, inspection and packaging operations relating to the manufacture of contact lens materials. Assume a hands-on role in accountability for facets of the business that facilitate smooth, uninterrupted production flow; safe use of equipment and chemicals; and crisp and accuratetraining and documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs complex chemical, machining, inspection and packaging, operations in an OSHA/FDA/ISO/EH&S regulatedenvironment requiring eye, hand, auditory and respiratory protection. Multi-tasking capabilities are essential in order to efficientlydrive many varied processes simultaneously.

  • AdvocateLEAN Initiatives (Kanban) and support LEAN concepts (5S) as they apply throughout the organization.

  • Monitor product flow, velocity and yieldsamong other metrics. Set up and troubleshoot equipment. Monitor, record and report any unusual problems to manufacturing group leader.

  • Without directsupervision, work collaboratively with the other technicians in order to equitablydividedailytasks. Thisself-directed effort and division of labor providesa smoothmanufacturing flow. A technicianat this level should have constantconcernfor ultimately accommodating the needsof the customer.

  • Assist in the training of technicians in the use of documents, chemical/machinery process, process flow, and instruments in a safe GMP environment.

  • Prepared and ready to offer recommendations regarding the scheduling and flow of product based on chemicalcharacteristics (i.e., expiry dates), mechanical constraints, shipment schedule to Isomedix, etc.

  • As skills allow, identify and clearly communicate ideas related to improving the manufacturing processes, documentation, workflow equipment methods, etc.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Medical device manufacturingexperience with expertise in chemical, machining, inspection and packaging operations preferred.

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and-methodologies.

  • Accurate recordkeeping skills.

  • Good basicmath skills / computer proficiency.

  • understanding of GMP/ISO requirementspertaining to manufacturing operations.
