Tecomet BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER in Wilmington, Massachusetts

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Technical Sales Manager (TSM) is the subject matter expert within Tecomet for the Defense / Missile market segment. The TSM is responsible for selling technical engineering manufacturing solutions to OEM customers out-source sub-contract manufacturing requirements.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, present and negotiate commercial proposals with customers.

  • Implementing commercial/pricing strategies in line with margin enhancement expectations.

  • Primary Tecomet representative at client meetings, for presenting technical data / manufacturing solutions.

  • Provide after sales technical support to clients as necessary.

  • Provide management with financial analysis data.

  • Develop and execute growth roadmap with key customers.

  • Support manufacturing cost reduction initiatives.

  • Keeping up to date on industry trends through conferences, seminars and/or market research.

  • Serves as a technical liaison to the factory and the production team.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of ITAR/Export Control and Defense commercial requirements (DFAR’s, DPAS, USML).

  • Experience negotiating contracts and new business awards.

  • Excellent product or service knowledge including all technical aspects, as well as the potential benefits a manufacturing solution could have for a customer.

  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of financial management information.

  • Commercial acumen / commercially astute.

  • IT literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project etc).

  • Strong Communication skills up and down the organization (verbal, listening, and writing).

  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships with customers and within the organizations.

  • Solve problems with minimal supervision and input.

  • Demonstrated ability to make effective and sound decisions.

  • Effectively interface with different levels of the organization to achieve goals.

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.

  • Self-confident & willing to assume a leadership role.

  • Ability to work within a sales team to hit wider company targets and goals and personal sales targets.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC, EDM, Weld-Assembly, Heat-treat, Passivation, Etch, Anodizing, Ultra-sonic clean, MPI, CMM etc.

  • Knowledge and knowhow of sales and marketing techniques.

  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in engineering or a technical area is preferred.

  • Post-graduate MBA or Business degree desirable.

  • 5 years or more years related experience in Engineering in the Aerospace/Defense markets in a client facing role is preferred.

  • Knowledge of the latest industry trends, discoveries and developments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work location (Hybrid): Tecomet Ballardvale / Home / Travel to clients – trade shows (avg 10-15%).

  • ITAR / export control compliant.

  • Well lighted, heated/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation.

  • Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.

  • Ability to maneuver throughout the facility/facilities as needed.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers.

  • Ability to wear proper PPE.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be required to stand.   The employee could frequently be required to walk; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee could be required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.   The employee could occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job could include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
