About This Role
We believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will be responsible for:
Textron Systems is looking for a skilled algorithm development engineer/scientist to be part of a strong team developing advanced sensor algorithms for defense applications. This position involves research, design, simulation, and development of complex signal processing algorithms for autonomous and semi-autonomous military equipment. Sensor types include, but are not limited to, embedded cameras, lasers, acoustic and seismic sensors, radar, and inertial components. The candidate must be able to work independently on individual assigned tasks and well as collaborate with other team members throughout the projects. The candidate will work closely with embedded software engineers implementing routines on system target platforms. Therefore, the ability to understand how the algorithms will operate and behave in the embedded environment is preferred. This position requires that the candidate be a US citizen with or capable of receiving a SECRET clearance.
Formulate algorithm design requirements based upon customer system requirements
Work with systems engineering to determing appropriate sensor-processing algorithm performance requirements to achieve end-to-end performance solution
Work with modeling and simulation to develop models and simulations of advanced sensors systems including source signal and propagation models for assessing system performance
Specification of analog and digital sensor signal conditioning and associated electronics design requirements.
Work as part of a small, focused team to develop and implement novel sensing, signal processing techniques, and weapon system fire control solutions.
Develop system concepts using sensing technologies such as acoustic, seismic, visual and infra-red, and RADAR
Develop and implement machine-learning algorithms, system tracking and multi-sensor fusion algorithms.
Prototype algorithm routines in C and MATLAB
Assist embedded software engineers with implementation, test, and validation of algorithms on target system hardware
Validate and optimize new and existing algorthim routines
Perform sensor data collection activities to create new data sets for algorithm verification
Analyze new and existing data sets for feature extraction
Create verification scripts to validate algorithm routines
Prepare technical documentation and briefings on algorithm design and performance
Prepare technical documentation on algorithm design and behavoir
Prepare and present briefings for design reviews, program reviews, and other customer meetings
Experienced leadership in embedded algorithm development for advanced sensor projects
BS or advanced degrees in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related technical discipline
