Security Team Specialist I - (24000721) Description Western Massachusetts Hospital, located in Westfield MA is currently hiring for the position of Security Specialist I. Western Massachusetts Hospital is a 100 bed long term medical and specialty care hospital owned and operated by the Department of Public Health (DPH). Please Note: This schedule for this position is 32 hours Thursday 4pm-12am, Friday 12am-8am, Saturday 12am-8am and Sunday 12am-8am. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): ? Patrols all buildings, grounds and adjacent areas of the hospital at regular intervals and guards against trespass, theft, fire and damage to property. ? Maintains order among visitors and staff; maintains motor vehicle traffic controls on hospital grounds including parking, speeding and other traffic conditions and takes necessary measures to prevent unauthorized use of hospital roads and parking facilities. ? Performs security duties such as screening visitors, directing traffic, and enforcing parking controls ? Provides personal protection to individuals as required including but not limited to, searching for missing goods and persons, conducting surveillance, and investigating complaints and reports of suspicious activities. ? Assist in case of emergencies such as heavy snowstorms, internal or external disaster, and calling for professional assistance. ? Facilitates in-service trainings as needed on fire and crime prevention, and basic safety standards and practices for hospital personnel/staff and outside agencies utilizing hospital buildings and/or grounds. ? Coordinates the maintenance of hospital firefighting equipment, alarm systems and other safeguards; reports defects and request repairs to ensure compliance with safety standards and requirements. ? Monitors hospital switchboard, gauges and alarm indicator panels; takes necessary action in event of malfunction or alarm, including system resets. ? Prepares reports on investigations conducted and noteworthy incidents during tour of duty. Required Qualifications: ? Ability to deal tactfully with others and interact with individuals who are under physical and/or emotional stress. ? Talent for maintaining a calm manner in stressful and emergency situations. ? Skilled in making decisions and acting quickly in dangerous or emergency situations. ? Capacity to exercise discretion in handling confidential information. ? Demonstrated ability to gather information through questioning individuals, conducting interviews and gathering information by examining records and documents. ? Ability to lift heavy objects or persons Preferred Qualifications: ? Prior health care facility security experience. ? Ability to solve problems and relate to hospital staff, constituents and other community members in a positive and professional manner. ?
