Job Description

The Global Vice President – Supplier Quality Assurance will oversee all Supplier Quality Activities at Olympus. This person will be responsible for all Supplier Quality Management & Engineering activities in all Design, Manufacturing, Service and Sales sites of Olympus. They will execute the Olympus QMS and be directly responsible for the Supplier Quality Organization – including Supplier Approval, Supplier Auditing, Supplier Quality Assurance Agreements, Supplier development, external material qualification and incoming inspection activities. They will provide leadership, strategy, vision, oversight, training and mentoring to this organization for new product development and end to end product quality.

Job Duties

  • Develops and executes vision and strategy for the supplier quality assurance activities of all relevant Olympus sites.

  • Mentors and leads the Supplier Quality Assurance leadership team supporting category management, new product development, sustaining engineering projects and day-to-day activities across multiple sites.

  • Mentors and leads the Supplier Quality Manager (Category) supporting (global) category management, new supplier qualification, supplier evaluation and supplier development.

  • Mentors and leads the Supplier Quality Engineers organization supporting new product development, manufacturing line support and supplier related market issues including purchased material qualification, supplier nonconformance management, Supplier Corrective Actions (SCA), Supplier Change Management and incoming Inspection planning.

  • Mentors and leads the Incoming Inspectors.

  • Develop the Supplier Quality Subject Matter Expertise network and forge its interface with external parties to ensure cutting edge procedural solutions are maintained and emerging trends and issues identified.

  • Manage the cascade of knowledge sharing to equip and educate the wider workforce in best practice process utilization.

  • Signs global Supplier Quality Assurance Agreements (Contracts) on behalf of Olympus.

  • Supports facility audits by outside agencies (i.e., FDA, ISO / MDSAP) point of contact and subject matter expert to demonstrate compliance to regulatory requirements of the Olympus Supplier Quality Assurance system.

  • Budget responsibility for the Supplier Quality organization.

  • Stakeholder and collaborator with senior management relating to project, process, business, and quality decisions.

  • Support the design Future State Organization with CQO and Leadership team.

  • Collaborate with Global Team to harmonize and globalize processes in the Future State Quality Organization.

  • Other Quality Assurance responsibilities as assigned by Management

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a Life Science, Engineering, or Physical Science with an advanced technical degree; MBA preferred.

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in quality management including supplier quality management with a minimum of 5-7 years of senior management experience in a worldwide position that is in a regulated environment in the MedTech industry.

  • Since this is a Global role, the individual will be expected to schedule meetings that work for multiple time zones and well as 50% travel should be expected.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated comprehensive expertise in the applied interpretation of worldwide regulatory standards and laws applicable to the IVD industry e.g., ISO, QSR, GMP, GLP, GCP, HIPAA.

  • Knowledge of and experience in supplier management of suppliers with global footprint.

  • Initiative in innovative approaches to quality and compliance in a fast-paced changing business environment.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and organizational, project management skills.

  • Ability to continuously assess the effectiveness of functional processes and to lead progressive improvement initiatives applying principles of process excellence.

  • "Out of box" strategic thinker with strong leadership ability.

  • As a change agent, motivated to improve organization and not be satisfied with status quo.

  • Strong intellectual curiosity and pursuit of knowledge. Cultivates new ideas. Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty.

  • Must have good judgment and ability to take prudent risks.

  • Experienced in all regulatory compliance aspects of the business: pre-market, commercial, post market, and regulatory.
