The role of the Packaging Design team is to create packaging that surprises and delights Amazon's customers.

The primary role of the Sr Manager, Packaging Design is to lead the packaging design function and develop sustainable packaging solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations while optimizing for the supply chain. The manager will ensure the team has deep knowledge of materials, processes, and customer feedback to continuously optimize the packaging.

Key job responsibilities

• Provide leadership of the Packaging Design Team

• Develop and refine the company's packaging platforms

• Oversee the creation of detailed packaging specifications

• Participate in cross-functional reviews and meetings

• Travel to engage with customers, supply chain, and vendors

About the team

The Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team works to develop automated solutions and sustainable packaging across Amazon's operations, focusing on end-to-end customer experience and eliminating waste.

Basic Qualifications

• BA in Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering or similar 4 year packaging or industrial design degree

• 10+ years of paperboard / corrugated design experience

• 4+ years of packaging design team management experience

• Proven experience in Artios CAD, Adobe, Solidworks and/or other similar design tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Track record of creative package design

• Experience in working with packaging laboratories

• Deep understanding of packaging testing, materials, and processes (ISTA/ASTM)

• Demonstrated understanding of paperboard materials (Kraft, CRB, FBB, Linear, Mediums)

• Working knowledge of the patent processes

• Knowledge of sustainability, recycling, and regulations

• Working knowledge of sustainability scorecards, LCA’s and how to rate packaging designs

• Working understanding of Extended Producer

• Experience managing global teams

• Active industry association participation
