The packaging and sustainable packaging group develops robotic material handling products that increase the safety and efficiency of our fulfillment operations. Our products are deployed across the Amazon Fulfillment Network, automating material flow to reduce operational costs, increase throughput, and enable consistent quality. Our workcells are integrated into broader solutions for storage, packaging, sortation, and transportation of items and packages.

MSP is seeking a Data engineer to join a dynamic new data team that provides leadership for concept development, architecture, design and testing of robotics systems and industrial equipment. This is an opportunity to make your mark and shape how the team accesses, utilizes and distributes data that continues to inform critical decision making within the organization. You’ll work closely with Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Scientists, Product Managers, Systems Engineers and more. In this role, you will:

Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure to support the storage, processing, and analysis of large data sets, ensuring security and scalability.

Develop ETL pipelines to ingest, transform, and store structured and unstructured data from various sources into AWS data stores such as S3, Redshift, and other internal Amazon platforms.

Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business intelligence teams to understand data needs and provide accessible, reliable data pipelines and solutions.

Automate data processes and workflows using AWS services such as Lambda, Glue for efficient data handling and processing.

Improve and raise the bar on proactive data quality monitoring and alarming (e.g., anomaly detection) across big data pipelines

A day in the life

As a data engineer on this team, you will collaborate closely with MSP business leaders, data scientists and engineering leaders to build data solutions. You will leverage AWS technologies (S3, GLUE, KMS, Lambda, DynamoDB, etc.) to build novel systems and tackle challenges at scale. You will manipulate and process TB-sized data, supporting real-time access and orchestration across multiple systems. Your work will to enhance our scientific models and data applications. As a consequence, you will have global impact, improving customer experiences for Amazon customers worldwide. As a successful candidate, you will successfully interact with both technical and business stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

  • Experience mentoring team members on best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR

  • Experience operating large data warehouses

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
