Job Description
Under direction of the Director of Design Excellence and Systems Verification, this position is responsible for managing the technical writing team through the design, development, documentation and support of product labelling, instructions for use, and pertinent procedures and processes..
As a Senior Manager of Technical Writing and Product Labelling Development in OSTA, you will join our systems team to help manage, coach, and lead our technical writing team. In this role you will ensure that the team meets the published technical writing requirements and is compliant with Quality System Regulations. It is expected that you utilize your full range of skills including people management, technical product knowledge and partnerships to drive harmonization of methods, tools and strategy across all regions.
Job Duties
Coach, manage, lead and grow a talented team of technical writers in the US and India that consistently delivers on projects.
Supervise and mentor individuals within the team and grow a team of technical writers while providing feedback on their daily work.
Update the strategies for creating, maintaining, and delivering excellent technical documentation.
Update the quality guidelines and ensuring that all technical writers adhere to the company’s standard documentation procedures.
Research, outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements.
Ability to understand complex products and translate the details from requirements into clear documentation.
Gathering information from subject-matter experts and developing, organizing, and writing procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
Provide support and be the interface to the CoE team supporting all workstreams relating to the e-IFU corporate strategy.
Support the policy definition with all regions.
Coordinates and drives requirements related to technical documentation.
Support all vendors in ensuring delivery of their deliverables (ie Translations, etc).
Participates in design reviews to identify issues and recommends changes as appropriate.
Evaluate and harmonize tools across regional technical writing teams.
Support marketing team in developing customer-facing product documents such as MDS2 forms (Manufacturer Disclosure Statement for Medical Device).
Assists with creating and maintaining facility-level procedures and work instructions for the all program.
Supports product teams in implementing and verifying measures by providing guidance, helping to establish technical writing measures, and applying appropriate tools.
Champions continued improvement of technical writing processes and tools. Collaborates with other facilities and corporate to facilitate improvements.
Identifies and evaluates new technologies and tools related to e-IFU.
Proposes solutions and helps define the future technical direction for documentation.
Fully understands the products, how to utilize them and how to document the technical detail.
Supports GUI definition and understands messaging/labelling required.
Job Qualifications
Required:
BS Degree in English, Communications or a technical field bachelor’s degree.
Minimum 10 years of professional experience within a medical device technical writing team.
Minimum 7 years of working knowledge and understanding of technical writing, labelling and complex products.
Management experience of resources.
Preferred:
This position will be responsible for managing and growing a team of Technical Writers of all levels. (Principal, Staff, Senior)
The position shall own the budget for the Technical Writing team

Strong writing and editing capability.
Ability to understand complex products and translate the details from requirements into clear documentation.
General knowledge of medical device standards.
Self-motivated person that can work individually and lead a team of technical writers.
Ability to express ideas clearly both in written and oral communications.
