YMCA Cape Cod Van Driver in West Barnstable, Massachusetts

Position Summary: Provides safe transportation & delivery of goods while maintaining a supportive & positive atmosphere for the Summer Food Program. Essential Functions: Drives van safely according to YMCA policies & procedures & state laws. Delivers goods in a timely fashion as directed by supervisor, if applicable. Completes thorough before-&-after trip checks each day & records all information. Records gas level, mileage, & maintenance on designated forms. Cleans out van each day. Promotes safety at all times by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked. Ensures that van rules, if applicable, are announced & followed for each trip. Develops friendly & positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, & children. Communicates regularly with other staff members & supervisor. Maintains a clean driving record while employed according to insurance company standards. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations & procedures, including emergency & safety procedures. Completes reports as necessary. Maintains required certifications. Attends staff meetings & trainings. Other duties as assigned. The work is performed both indoors & out & will require travel to various locations. While performing the duties of this job the employee will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Requirements Qualifications: Minimum age of 21 with clean driving record. Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to driving commercial vehicles. Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR & First Aid. Physical Demands: Ability to safely drive van for long periods of time. Sufficient physical strength & agility to carry out essential duties which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi-reaching to full-reach overhead; walking, climbing stairs, crouching, kneeling, bending, stooping, sitting, standing for an extended period of time, carrying/lifting or moving up to 25 pounds; have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear & have visual acuity; twisting of the waist, shoulders, & legs. Visual & auditory ability to identify & respond to environmental & other hazards related to the activity.
