Town of Wellfleet SEASONAL DEPUTY SHELLFISH CONSTABLE in Wellfleet, Massachusetts
The Town of Wellfleet?s Shellfish Department works to ensure sustainable fisheries for future generations by: enforcing the policies and regulations governing the town?s shellfishing activities, propagating commercial and recreational shellfishing areas, protecting Wellfleet Harbor?s environment and the general public?s safety, and conducting public outreach and education. REPORTS TO: Shellfish Constable POSITION SUMMARY: The part-time, seasonal employee takes on the role of Deputy Shellfish Constable for oversight of the recreational shellfishery, which in the summertime can have more than one hundred people shellfishing on one tide in one area. The Deputy Shellfish Constable will be responsible for law enforcement duties with regard only to the recreational shellfishery to protect and manage the Town?s natural resources in the Indian Neck Recreational Only area.
