Thermo Fisher Scientific Sr. Release Administrator in Waltham, Massachusetts

Roles & Responsibilities:

To successfully perform within this position, the individual must be able demonstrate the ability to understand and execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Being able to perform tasks for Portfolio Management, Change Management, Release Management, and Integration Management for projects/programs is essential to success.

Below represents the knowledge, skill or ability required to be successful:

Change Management:

  • Lead change activities for projects/programs and apply a structured methodology for rollout by supporting the development, delivery, and management of communication

  • Ability to encourage IT and Business personnel to support the change

  • Be a proactive communicator of change

  • Responsible for evaluating and assessing the impact of the change with IT colleagues

  • Help to identify stakeholders for their acknowledgement and understanding of the change

  • Support the review of change requests, facilitate change meetings, and support additional activity needed to drive the implementation with the project/program manager

Release Management:

  • Help to design and maintain release standards and guidelines to be used across all projects/programs

  • Coordination of systems to be released to help support timing and move into validation and production environments

  • Monitor supporting teams for timelines and milestones to timelines remain on target

  • Support the configuration of release versioning in accordance to system guidelines

  • Provide support/guidance during large releases

  • Help to plan the release window and communication with the project/program manager

  • Manage relationships and coordinate project/programs between different teams

  • Help to manage and understand any risks that may affect the release

Integration Management:

  • Act as advisor, facilitator, supporter, and a communicator for all projects/programs tasked with

  • The ability to undertake and lead an IT project/program requiring the support and reliance with multiple systems

  • Build, coordinate, and execute the project plan to completion

  • Share lessons learned on successes and failures for on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, etc.

  • Understand technical integration technologies so you can support decisions made on the project plan

  • Be prepared to work with colleagues on fit gap analysis so scoping and necessary documentation can be produced

Portfolio/Project Management:

  • Ability to align on or more portfolio roadmaps to support the division PMO

  • The knowledge and skillset to utilize various software tools to communicate progress on projects, ownership, timelines

  • Provide scope and resource planning for projects across the division

  • Support the building of budget and time estimates for each project

  • Fluent in validation documentation needs across a GxP environment

  • Confident to run project meetings, hold teams accountable and support risk management

  • Ability to partner with senior leaders during strategic project governance


  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or Business Administration.

  • MBA is preferred

  • Equivalent job experience is acceptable

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of knowledge and experience in project management, PMP certification is a plus

  • Strong attention to detail

  • An excellent understanding of computer software (i.e. MS Project, VISIO, Excel, Teams, etc.), computer hardware, all company business software systems

  • Understanding of Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration, and Environment (DEV, TST, VAL, PROD) pipelines

  • Ability to investigative problems/recommend solutions

  • Strong documentation & leadership skills

  • Ability to coordinate multiple teams to ensure tasks are completed in time with the release schedule

  • Must be able to work in a high-pressure team environment and handle multiple tasks

  • Exposure to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or healthcare industry experience (i.e. clinical) preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems and provide solutions to internal or external issues

  • Flexible with an ability to effectively work across time zones, in complex projects

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
