Job Description:

The Project Leader II leads and manages new product development projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams (R&D, marketing, product, production engineering, procurement, service, finance, technical writing) through the entire new product development process.

Job Duties:

  • Manages medium complexity projects (Mainly Full and Mini PDP Projects) as part of the New Product Development, Engineering to order, and Sustaining Processes

  • Coordinates and manages project schedule, budget, scope and quality

  • Creates and updates integrated project plan and financials in collaboration with subject matter leads and necessary department leads. Compares and adjusts project plan and financials based on past experience with projects

  • Contributes to Brand Approval, Intellectual Property and Export classification deliverables

  • Identifies, quantifies, and mitigates projects risks based on project team input and similar project experience

  • Provides status reports with support from the core team members and requests milestone approval

  • Maintains project sites and documents weekly project progress. Ensures project data is accurate

  • Contributes to managing any changes in scope, budget, schedule and quality of a project. Works with appropriate stakeholders

  • Achieves product cost targets. Contributes to mitigation actions to prevent impacts on product costs

  • Supports execution of each process

  • Leads overall deliverables with all functions (Product Management, Engineering, Production engineering, Operations, Service, Quality, Supply Chain). Understands the intent of each deliverable and their interactions

  • Manages cross-functional dependencies. Minimizes impacts related to dependencies

  • Synchronizes activities per project plan. Minimizes impacts related to activity interactions

  • Contributes to problem-solving activities that affect one or multiple functions

  • Supports to the execution of the Product Road Map Process

  • Contributes to financial analysis and planning activities

  • Contributes to the execution of the Technology Research and Development Projects Process

  • Supports knowledge and experience sharing across R&D programs and sites

  • Gets involved and actively participates in the development and implementation of a culture of continuous improvement by suggesting updates to work instructions for all functions, and Program Management Office training materials, templates and tools

  • Monitors key performance indicator trends to follow effectiveness of changes

  • Learns and supports best development strategies. Initiatives involve cross-functional teams Synergizes use of best approaches

  • Contributes to product innovation by facilitating and encouraging creativity and new idea generation

  • Contributes to organizational changes that enhance the business' agility

Job Requirements:


  • Engineering or Computer Science Degree (Bachelor's or higher) or equivalent training and experience

  • At least 6-8 years of experience in managing new product development projects that have achieved commercial success and/or being part of the technical engineering team

  • Knowledge of different product development processes (Agile, Stage gate process, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Project and SharePoint or similar applications


  • Basic knowledge of the field of non-destructive testing

  • Project Management Professional Certification or equivalent

  • Strong Leadership Skills

  • Strong Customer-Oriented Mindset
