National Grid Lead Planner, Portfolio Planning in Waltham, Massachusetts

This requires us to deliver on our promises and always look for new opportunities to grow, both ourselves and our business. ## Job Purpose To oversee the Massachusetts Capital Portfolio Calibration Process. This position will support the preparation of commentary on forecast variances and drive the capital portfolio to spend within the allowable threshold. ## Key Accountabilities + Act as the first point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding the Capital Portfolio for the current FY + Monitor the portfolio spend trends and drive the calibration of the programs and projects to spend within the targeted amount + Engage stakeholders via cadence meetings (Zero Variance Meeting and Portfolio Calibration Meeting) to report on progress and variance to the original budget + Proactively research, produce, monitor and analyze cost, work plan, or other information to enable analysis of key themes and trends. This would include analyzing weekly and monthly cost data, preparing reports explaining budget variances and forecasting future expenses + Help identify gaps and create recommendations to get back on track + Respond to information requests of audit, finance, and other stakeholders in a timely fashion ## Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in business, engineering, finance, accounting, or other related discipline or equivalent work experience and 3 to 5+ years of experience in Project/Program Management/Project Controls + Demonstrates the ability to interpret information and analyze relationships among several parts of a problem or situation in order to clearly articulate the findings + Anticipates obstacles and thinks ahead about next steps, demonstrating initiative and resourcefulness and the ability to investigate the situation beyond routine questioning + Demonstrates an energetic and enthusiastic manner and the ability to engage and maintain high levels of engagement of stakeholders during meetings, and throughout the year + Demonstrates a consistent approach in dealing with stakeholders and taking personal responsibility for driving performance + Understands the importance of procedures and standards of working and demonstrates the ability to give directions or demonstrations with clear reasons and rationales + Self-starter/motivated to lead the performance of programs of responsibility + Possesses a general understanding of National Grid's Gas business from an operations and compliance perspective + Valid drivers licence required ## More Information This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
