Principal Internal Sales Specialist (Underwriting - Group Benefits) in Waltham, Massachusetts
As an Internal Sales Specialist, you’ll be responsible for pricing and positioning new business proposals through:
Analysis and screening of bid specifications
Consultation with sales and account management on underwriting guidelines
Proactive communication and follow up with brokers and internal partners
Data entry into our proprietary rating engine
This position may also assist with broker education activities and may make periodic onsite visits to a broker’s office, in partnership with sales representatives.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus 2+ years of experience required
Must acquire a Life & Health licenses within 3 months and apply for required non-resident licenses
Must maintain licenses by meeting continuing education requirements
Requires ability to understand and maintain knowledge of insurance operations, products, and concepts with ability to apply marketing strategies and systems
Requires strong planning, organizational, problem solving and time management skills with the flexibility to adjust to changing priorities
Must have good oral and written communication skills plus the ability to develop effective relationships and motivate producer behavior
Must have strong computer and keyboarding skills
Must have excellent level Excel skills as well as Microsoft Office knowledge
Salesforce experience a plus
Must work well under pressure and be self-directed
Some travel may be required including overnight stays (5%)
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
$20.87 - $39.81 / hour
Location and Work Environment
This role will be based in the Northeast region, in our or Waltham, MA field sales offices. This is a hybrid role, in that, you will be able to work from home and in the office.
