The Tax Department’s mission is to ensure that the Company operates in a tax efficient manner and meets the various statutory requirements for financial statement reporting, income tax reporting and other taxes (sales, property use, etc.) The Tax Director’s role is to implement the department’s mission by ensuring that the Company meets its tax compliance and financial reporting obligations in the most tax-efficient way by identifying, researching, and resolving tax issues and directing the department’s staff to properly calculate and record the appropriate tax accounting entries and file accurate tax returns.
Review and ensure the timely and accurate preparation and filing of the Company’s federal, state, local and, if applicable, foreign corporate income tax returns and estimated payments.
Identify or calculate required tax law adjustments to financial statement income (i.e. “book income”).
Calculate, or review the calculation of, the Company’s quarterly and annual federal, state, local and, if applicable, foreign corporate income tax provision (tax expense that is reported in the financial statements) to verify that it’s in accordance with both financial accounting and tax regulations.
Review and ensure the timely and accurate preparation and filing of the Company’s monthly, quarterly and annual state and local personal property, sales and use tax returns.
Develop strategies to continually improve departmental processes (data collection, tax compliance, etc.). Develop tax planning strategies that reduce or defer income tax liabilities to a later period.
Manage tax audits and resolve disputes with federal, state and local income, franchise, sales, use and business personal property tax auditors.
Research technical tax issues as they arise with federal, state and local corporate income, sales, use and personal property taxes.
Ensure that any non-residents on assignment in the U.S. meet their U.S. tax reporting obligations.
Oversee the tax compliance function of foreign branches and subsidiaries.
Consider long-term ongoing strategies to minimize tax and maximize benefit of the international tax provisions of the 2017 tax reform act (BEAT, GILTI and FDII).
Implementation and execution of Global Transfer Pricing Policy covering all aspects of Transfer Pricing (e.g. sale of goods, services etc.) with synchronization of regional transfer pricing legislation aspects. Oversee the completion and review of all transfer pricing documentation requirements, including review of the transfer pricing calculation.
All other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum 8-10+ years’ experience in public or private corporate taxation, including extensive experience in corporate income tax preparation, tax provision calculation and related tax research.
Strong working knowledge of U.S. federal and state income tax laws. Strong knowledge of income tax calculation in accordance with financial accounting standards.
PC skills required including MS Word and Excel, are required. Experience with other tax software a plus.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
