Fresenius Medical Care North America Director Lead Architect - Enterprise Platforms in Waltham, Massachusetts

Principal Role & Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, daily leadership of the Enterprise Platforms group responsible for Enterprise Platform Technologies leveraged across multiple products/solutions within the Medical Technologies (CE) portfolio -> EX: IoT/Remote Management, Operating Systems, Architectural Frameworks, IAM, PKI

  • Own and drive Enterprise Platform integration strategies across all CE verticals (In-Center, Critical Care & Home)

  • Lead Advanced Development activities targeting technology exploration through Proof-Of-Concepts/Proof-Of-Feasibility initiatives

  • Directly collaborate with R&D leaders across CE to identify partnerships and opportunities to leverage existing or new enterprise platform technologies

  • Create and foster an innovative and collaborative culture

  • Operates both strategically and tactically in a leadership role with the ability to successfully deliver on individual contributor tasks (as required)

  • Identify emerging platform technologies to support innovative, next generation solutions

  • Ensure platform technology obsolescence mitigation is accounted for in architecture roadmaps

  • Primary Representative for EPT in collaborative or alignment initiatives/discussion within CE / Member of the Architecture Review Board

  • Prioritize active and work required of the group, ensure proper allocation of resources, and forecast future demand

  • Identify patentable concepts to expand Fresenius Medical Care’s Intellectual Property portfolio

  • Define Document, and Test Enterprise Platform Technologies/Solutions for use across CE

  • Provide assessments of Platform alignment to both technical and business objectives -> licensing/financial models, scale, realized and potential enablement/opportunities

  • Create Platform/Technology roadmaps that articulate the short term (< 12 months) and long term (> 2 years) evolution

  • Create documentation (white papers) that outline reference strategies and tactical approaches

  • Provide Quarterly Executive Summary reports that provide visibility to integration/deployment footprint across CE portfolio

  • Establish a team and plan which successfully defines the ongoing support/sustaining of platform technologies

  • This position requires approximately 10% to 25% travel based on the requirements of the project.

Education and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Advanced degree preferred.

  • Advanced degree in software or systems engineering, computer science

  • 15+ years of Software or Systems Engineering experience

  • 5+ years in an architecture lead role on a large-scale project dealing with internal and external integrations

  • 5+ years of leading teams of varying sizes in R&D or Information Technology

  • 5+ years of experience architecting, integrating, and designing software-based platforms; targeted for internal or external users

  • Experience in Architecting systems targeting medical/healthcare/dialysis environments & ecosystems; Clinical, Critical Care, Home spaces

  • Demonstrated experience in all levels of systems integration: front-end, back-end middleware/services/APIs, and Data

  • Experience in establishing and maintaining technology and architecture roadmaps

  • Implementation of modern cybersecurity standards and best practices at the application/system levels; security for distributed systems and managed services

  • Leading Advanced Development or POC initiatives; Technology Exploration

  • Working knowledge of medical software and systems; SaMD experience a plus
