This is an exciting opportunity to join our fast-growing DevOps organization in the role of Associate DevOps Software Engineer.
You will immediately get exposure to help build, monitor, and support our applications and infrastructure spanning on premise and in cloud environments. This is an opportunity to use and expand your knowledge of DevOps processes and practices, and of systems and operations, as we continue to extend our work to Cloud Platforms. This position is part of an established team and will have opportunities to employ a wide range of technologies in configuration/infrastructure as code, build and release pipeline automation, monitoring and observability, containerization, and cloud computing.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
Previous experience with and/or demonstrable understanding of the DevOps tools used for the duties described above is helpful and preferred.
Work with Product Development and Devops Engineers on systems related feature enhancements (such as caching, use of message queues, improved network communications), refactoring and upgrades of Java based microservices
Enable and implement continuous delivery and continuous integration using such tools like Jenkins or Azure DevOps pipelines.
Define metrics to ensure the high performance and stability of our development, test, and production environments
Provide first level support for application software issues in all environments.
Participate in on-call rotation to provide first-responder technical support in production environments
Be situationally aware to notice issues as they arise, and mitigate, escalate immediately and appropriately.
Collaborate with the Development, Project Management, and Product Management teams to align projects, releases, patches, and other efforts.
Plan and execute tasks within an agile environment.
Job Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience & Characteristics:
Hands on experience with Java, Groovy, shell scripting
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Maven, Datadog, Grafana, or Kibana
General experience with Linux, Unix, Windows
Technical creativity
Committed, engaged, self-motivated, decisive, adaptable
Analytical and debugging skills, with strong attention to detail
Ability to leverage technical know-how to find viable compromises amidst competing business needs.
Demonstrate ability to plan and excel in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
