Kennedy-Donovan Center Emergency Shelter Supervisor in Uxbridge, Massachusetts

About this role:
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Emergency Shelter Supervisor oversees a team of Direct Care Workers who are responsible for providing supervision over children who are utilizing the emergency shelter and in the custody of DCF. This happens when there are no placement options for the children. The Emergency Shelter Supervisor handles many administrative and supervisory responsibilities. He/She is responsible for planning and implementing the identified needs of the children at the emergency shelter. The Supervisor will take all referrals according to the policy, manage the staff of Direct Care Workers, and ensure the shelter home is managed appropriately, clean, and stocked with supplies and food.
Start Date: March 1, 2025
Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday from 10 am - 6 pm
In this role, you'll get to:
Supervise and support full-time, part-time, and relief Direct Care Workers
Provide quality assurance oversight of department caseloads to ensure quality delivery of services, appropriate documentation and collateral contacts.
Participate in staff meetings, group and individual supervision as needed
On-call responsibilities
Completes all orientation, trainings and mentoring of Direct Care Workers.
Ensures compliance and adherence to the Kennedy-Donovan Center and the Department of Children and Families philosophy and mission statements.
Participate in the development of treatment plans with Clinical Coordinator.
Provide advocacy for individuals as needed.
Collaborate with internal and external resources and community providers to ensure timely, safe, and appropriate placement services.
Participate in all team meetings, Emergency Shelter meetings, and Supervisor’s group meetings
Comply with all KDC and DCF documentation requirements
Provide transportation as needed
Complete intakes of all new children
Maintain staffing operational standards including coverage if needed
Maintaining Direct Care Worker schedules, coverage, Paid Time Off (PTO) and sick time
Payroll approval
We are looking for people who have:
Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field or Associate’s degree with 2 years of related experience.
Knowledge of working with DCF.
Strong Interpersonal and communication skills
Commitment to community-based supports for individuals
Able to meet required competency level in Microsoft Office Software
Ability to work with children with moderate to severe behavioral concerns and/or mental health or substance use diagnoses
Knowledge of children with special needs including developmental disabilities as well as medical and/or other needs
Physical Requirements:
Some Travel may be required
Ability to sit for extended periods of time
Frequent telephone use required
Ability to use computer
Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Ability to successfully complete QBS SafetyCare Training provided by KDC.
Ability to assist individuals with developmental disabilities and/or limited mobility (such as lifting, transporting) if needed.
