TURNERS FALLS Food Service Director Job Description EXPERIENCE REQUIRED *Administrative skill to organize, supervise and work understandingly with people. Create and maintain spreadsheet data Troubleshoot for all cafeteria emergencies Short and long range menu planning Continuous research work to improve school food programs Responsible to follow the state/federal guidelines Position Type:Full-time Positions Available:1 Job Categories: Support Staff \> Food Service 1.Purchases and maintains an inventory of all food, supplies and equipment with the assistance of kitchen manager\'s input. Plans and checks all menus for school meal and snack programs, including summer feeding. Encourages new ideas and menu items. 2.Ensures menus are in accordance with current USDA regulations and standards 3.Utilizes USDA foods to the good of the local program. Is responsible for proper recording, receiving, storing and issuing of USDA Foods received. 4.Interviews, employs and evaluates all food service employees. 5.Checks all bills for accuracy before presenting to the central office for payment. 6.Submits information to central office for all food service personnel payrolls. 7.Plans and implements training programs for all food service personnel in accordance to USDA requirements 8.Develops or acquires standardized recipes and portions to be used in preparation and serving of food. 9.Coordinates accurate accounting procedures with the central office as to records of all monies, labor, food supplies and other costs. Coordinates the preparation of records as required by the State Bureau of Nutrition Education and School Food Services. 10.Keeps informed of new ideas and concepts of food service operations by research, conferences and workshops. 11.Encourages a friendly atmosphere at all cafeteria/kitchen facilities. 12.Visits all lunchrooms and cafeterias as often as possible, checking that high standards of health, cleanliness and safety are maintained and observes possible improvements in operations, 13.Supervises the planning and preparation of any special meals as well as special events at any of the school facilities. 14.Maintain a competitive cost position by investigating, selecting and negotiating with various vendors, while ordering food and other supplies. 15.Review and recommend the need for purchase of new and replacement equipment. Required practice of no less than three quotations per item on file. 16.Maintain accurate records of all breakfast and lunches served daily. 17.Submit monthly paperwork for state and federal reimbursement, with all records maintained with the cafeteria files. 18.Responsible for daily deposit of receipts. (this is also on the kitchen manager aka kitchen supervisor description) 19.Prepare reports as requested by Superintendent and Director of Business and Operations for analysis purposes. 20.Any other duties as deemed necessary per Director of Business and Operations. At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred. Bachelor degree preferred.
