Leidos Senior Systems Engineer in Tewksbury, Massachusetts

Description

Leidos is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Tewksbury, MA to support our checkpoint screening products, including next-generation developments. Leidos is a world leader in providing checkpoint screening X-ray and trace detection products, found in airports in the US and around the world.

The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for technical planning, system hardware-software-network design, development and integration, verification and validation, and fielding. Also responsible for evaluation of alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Duties include performing systems requirements analysis, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition, technical management, integration, system testing, and quality assurance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform analysis on systems to document all functions and define interfaces for integration, testing and quality assurance.

  • Work with product team to define product requirements and build systems to fulfill customer needs.

  • Develop organized engineering road map for product-related tasks and activities.

  • Coordinate with other engineering leads to ensure alignment, coordination, and integration throughout product development cycle.

  • Will provide solutions based on system requirements. Will work with team to develop solutions to the technical issues and updates that are required.

  • Works with senior team and develop junior team members to perform the design process and the procedures for updates.

  • Work as a "generalist" on a team responsible for development and integration of current and future system builds.

  • Defining system baselines and versioning; initiating and conducting studies that examine upgrades and changes to the system; initiating and conducting change orders documenting a needed change to the system; and providing support to the testing and life cycle activities required to sustain the system.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in a related discipline (such as electrical engineering, physics, or systems engineering) with 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain. May consider additional years of experience in lieu of degree.

  • 2+ years of practical experience as a HW Systems Design Engineer building sensor systems

  • Must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance (US citizenship required).

  • Experience working and collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams, including leading technical teams and mentoring less experienced scientists

  • Led or played a key role in designing, building, and testing hardware sensing products from concept to market delivery.

  • Understanding of different physical sensing system architectures.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to travel to customer sites as required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • X-ray CT experience

  • Chemical trace detection experience

  • Automated detection experience

  • Basic Linux skills

Pay Range:

Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00
