State of Massachusetts Security Team Coordinator in Tewksbury, Massachusetts

Tewksbury Hospital, part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking a dynamic and solutions-oriented Security Team Coordinatorto coordinate and oversee the Campus Security Department, ensuring the safety and security of all campus members. This role involves overseeing a dedicated team of security professionals, coordinating all aspects of staffing, performance reviews, and maintaining high standards of competency compliance. This role will be crucial in responding to emergencies and conducting regular safety inspections. In this position, you will foster a community safety model, promoting regular interactions between security staff, campus personnel, and patients to preemptively address safety concerns. You will compile and report vital statistics for key committees and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Additionally, you will coordinate the Door Access/Identification System, campus activities, and maintain relationships with external agencies to assist in resolving issues and exchanging critical information. Your ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and your commitment to maintaining a secure campus environment will be key to your success in this role. Please Note: This is a full-time 37.5 hour position. The schedule will be 1st shift, Monday through Friday. The days off will be Saturday and Sunday. /_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_/ · Supervise the Campus Security Department, including scheduling, performance reviews, competency compliance and participating in hiring. · Ensure 24/7 staffing for continuous coverage and response to all emergencies, focusing on de-escalation and safety. · Participate in developing, updating, and enforcing security policies and procedures in collaboration with Director and other departments. · Promote a community safety model through regular rounds, staff check-ins, and patient interactions. · Conduct and ensure compliance with all Life Safety inspections, including fire drills and emergency lighting. · Compile and report monthly statistics for relevant committees and departments, maintaining accurate records of campus activities. · Provide training, orientation, and continuing education for security staff in conjunction with immediate supervisors. · Coordinate all searches and contacts for Away Without Authorization (AWA) cases and assist with patient identification for campus programs. · Coordinate details for campus activities and external functions. /_Required Qualifications:_/ · Knowledge of supervision principles, practices, and techniques. · Competence in supervising, planning, and assigning work, including evaluating performance and providing necessary training. · Understanding of standard methods for protecting patients, staff, visitors, and property. · Ability to apply relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. · Skilled in maintaining accurate records and gathering information from documents. · Ability to handle confidential information with discretion, exercise sound judgment, and prepare accurate reports. · Strong fact finding and interviewing skills. · Adaptability to changing situations and emergency requirements. · Ability to remain calm in stressful and emergency situations.
