Location/Division Specific Information

Location: Tewksbury, MA

Hours: Monday – Friday; 7:00am – 3:30pm (flexible for a 6:00am start)

How you will make an impact…

If you are a team player, interested in science, self-motivated and have excellent communication skills then we are looking for you! As an Electro-Mechanical Assembler, you will work in a production area along with team members to build and test Thermo Fisher Scientific handheld products in accordance with standard operating procedures. You will be trained to work with sophisticated technology instruments, manufacturing systems, and standard industry software.

What you will do…

The primary responsibility of the Electro-Mechanical Assembler is the assembly of electro–mechanical sub-assemblies manufactured by Thermo Fisher Scientific. Electro-Mechanical Assembler will be required to perform all manufacturing tasks related to the assembling of electrical and/or mechanical assemblies – including point to point wiring, soldering, and kitting. In this role, you will need to have the ability to distinguish colors of different wire insulation, work with fume emitting items like RTV, Glyptal, etc., on occasion work with components containing mercury, and be able to kit parts low on stock racks as well as handle/lift items weighing as much as 25 lbs. to perform this work.

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)

Experience

  • 5 years of relevant experience preferred

  • Soldering experience; preferred

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word & Excel

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to read and understand engineering documentation including drawings, circuit diagrams and sequence of operations

  • Must be able to understand and apply formal problem-solving tools.

  • Comfortability engaging at all levels of the organization; must be independent and a self-initiator.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, solid communication skills; both written and oral.

  • Capable of working in a team environment.

  • Need to be very comfortable with the use of Windows based software such as Excel, Word, and Power Point.

  • Be flexible and willing to expand into other areas as business requirements dictate.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

  • Strong attention to detail and quality

  • Must be adaptable to new tasks with a willingness to learn

  • Flexibility to cross train in other areas of the process

  • Ability to solder electronic components on printed circuit boards

Working Environment

  • Fast-paced, flexible environment

  • Will work with small parts under microscope using tweezers and other small tools (training provided)

  • Will use different equipment such as, optical spectrum analyzer, optical power meter, etc. (training provided)
