State of Massachusetts Building Maintenance Technician in Tewksbury, Massachusetts

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: * MassHealth is seeking dynamic candidates to fill the position of Building Maintenance Technician. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing and completing the upkeep, maintenance, and repair of the Tewksbury MassHealth Enrollment Center. * * */_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_/ * Responsiblefor ensuring the overall maintenance of the Tewksbury MassHealth Enrollment Center. * Performs many staff support functions including maintaining office supply inventories and upkeep of the office equipment. * Serves as liaison to Department of Public Health (DPH) for the maintenance and repair of the building and the cleaning and upkeep of the office space. * Requires frequent lifting and moving of objects 50 - 75 lbs. * Supervise work of contractors and/or vendors to verify the completion of work/repairs. * Ensures that standards of security, cleanliness and safety are maintained. * Works work with IT, Telecommunications and EHS to facilitate internal staff moves. * Demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others, deal tactfully, exercise sound judgment. * Ensures that all maintenance and building related files and records are maintained and retrieved as need. * Setting up and removal of cubicles. * Painting as needed. * Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, stoop, or crawl into awkward spaces. * Install, remove & cleaning of AC’s yearly. * Handles minor plumbing issues. * Mop & clean up of spills, etc. * Sanitizing, cleaning, vacuuming of building. * Shoveling & sanding walkways. * Ensuring copy machines & scanners and other ITR’s are serviced routinely and operable. * Clean up and removal of leaves around the building. * Frequently inspect facilities to proactively detect potential problems and recommend the necessary repairs or maintenance. i.e., elevator, doors, window, cooling and heating systems, locks, etc. * Window washing. * Basic computer skills, necessary for communication and reporting of escalated service/maintenance issues. * Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. * Ability to use hand & power tools. * Able to follow instruction from supervisors. * Knowledge of general carpentry & repair. * Excellent organizational and time management skills. * Maintain accurate records, and prepare general reports, as needed. * Perform related work as required. /_Required Qualifications:_/ * Ability to understand and apply the laws, rules, policies, and procedures governing assigned unit activities. * Ability to follow written and oral instructions. * Ability to exercise sound judgment. * Ability to assemble items of information in accordance with procedures. * Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written expression. * Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds. * Knowledge of the types and uses of small measurement devices such as levels, rulers, and steel squares. * Ability to work a 7:00 a.m. to 3:15pm shift. * Knowledge of the types and uses of handheld power tools such as drills, electric hand saws and small hand tools such as hammers and wrenches. /_Preferred Qualifications:_/ * Experience with building maintenance preferred * Massachusetts Handyman license preferred /_About MASSHEALTH:_/ To improve the health outcomes of our diverse members and their families by providing access to integrated health care services that promote sustainable & equitable health, well-being, independence and quality of life. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in building maintenance, the major duties of which included (1) maintaining and/or repairing plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating and/or air conditioning systems and/or (2) building custodial services and (B) of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory capacity.
