Job Title: Health & Safety ManagerJob Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing weekly job site safety inspections, documenting site inspections and corrective actions, reviewing Job Safety Analysis (JSA) with onsite staff, conducting health and safety training, and assisting with accident investigations. This role involves developing relationships with jobsite personnel, project managers, and clients, and working closely with the Director of Compliance to enhance existing safety programs and develop new approaches to workplace safety.
Responsibilities
Perform weekly job site safety inspections of employee work practices, behaviors, and equipment means/methods.
Document site inspections and corrective actions/preventative measures taken.
Review Job Safety Analysis (JSA) with onsite staff for specific construction activities.
Conduct and document health and safety training/meetings on construction-related topics.
Complete or assist with injury, auto, and general liability accident investigations.
Develop working relationships with jobsite personnel, project managers, and clients.
Work with Project Managers on written safety plans for bids.
Collaborate with the Director of Compliance to enhance existing safety programs and create new innovative approaches to workplace safety.
Essential Skills
Safety management
OSHA 30 certification
Construction safety
Environmental safety
Waste management
Working knowledge of OSHA’s safety and health standards for the construction industry
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and subcontractor personnel
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety or related field (Associate’s Degree acceptable)
Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in safety oversight
OSHA related safety training (e.g., OSHA 40, OSHA 510, CHST) preferred
Strong independent work ethic, detail-oriented, and well organized
Self-motivated and able to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision
Communication skills adaptable to work with a variety of personalities
Ability to work outside in all environmental conditions in an active capacity
Work Environment
This role requires working half of the time in the field and half in the office for site walks. The work environment involves exposure to various environmental conditions and active participation in safety inspections and training sessions. The company specializes in soil remediation projects, excavations, abatement, utility work, and DOT transportation of waste, operating throughout New England.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr.
