State of Massachusetts Certification Instructional Assistant Program Coordinator in Stow, Massachusetts

The Department of Fire Services (DFS), Massachusetts Firefighting Academy (MFA), is recruiting to fill the position of Instructional Assistant Program Coordinator - Certification at the Stow Campus. This is a part-time, contract position with no benefits. The Instructional Assistant Program Coordinator - Certification will work with the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy to administer the fire service certification system adopted by the Massachusetts Fire Training Council. Duties: * Schedules examinations of all internal requests throughout the MFA. * Assists with the scheduling of all external exam requests throughout the Commonwealth. * Assists with the scheduling of chief examiners/examiners to support certification's needs. * Trains examiners and assists with training chief examiners. * Assists with assembling documentation, examinations, and necessary equipment for written and practical exams to support the goals and objectives of the certification group. * Communicates with other groups internal and external to the MFA concerning certification issues. * Administers written examinations when necessary. * Assists with disassembly of exam boxes and the proper storage of materials and documents. * Corrects written examinations as needed. * Reviews practical exam skill sheets as needed. * Assists with development and maintenance of certification levels. * Performs other activities as may be required to achieve the goals and objectives established for the certification group. Minimum qualifications: * Must have a minimum of three years of relevant fire service experience or emergency service industry experience such as fire officer, fire investigator,training officer, or fire prevention with a fire department. * Must be an instructor within a training program for a minimum of five years. * Must have completed Fire Instructor II course and been promoted to Fire Instructor II with the MFA or a minimum of three years of equivalent experience of instructional curriculum development and course delivery. Preferred Qualifications: * Knowledge of sound examination techniques and proper educational methodology. * Practical knowledge of management concepts to effectively plan, direct, control, and evaluate issues toward achieving specific goals and objectives. * Ability to work with fire service personnel for effective implementation of the certification system. * Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the DFS/LMS. * Proficient in the PAR Test and PAR Score system. Specialty requirements: * Must have a minimum of four years experience as an examiner for the Massachusetts Fire Training Council, to at least the Firefighter level.
