JOB DUTIES:

The employee will be required to perform Welder and Distribution Technician duties

POSITION DUTIES:

WELDER:

Performs oxyacetylene and electric welding duties on pressure steel piping, equipment, and fittings, makes hot taps in accordance with Eversource approved welding procedures. To be proficient in electric Arc Welding and Oxy-Acetylene cutting process. To be able to weld on pipelines under pressure and in emergency conditions. Performs work consistent with the training provided and/or skills attained or held. Working knowledge of operations policies and procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local codes/regulations, including OSHA regulations concerning pipeline safety and underground construction practices.

DISTRIBUTION TECHNICIAN:

Perform all duties of the Distribution Technician position (see Distribution Technician Job Posting)

May be assigned other work in accordance with the labor agreement.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work in this classification is performed both indoors and outdoors, dependent on the work assignment. Work is performed on company and customer premises, in streets, roadways and in right-of-ways, in variable weather conditions.

Work performed requires frequent bending, lifting and repetitive motion.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required to pass all welding certifications and OQ requirements.
  • Qualified applicants must meet Distribution Technician A requirements and pass all applicable Operator Qualification testing
  • Possess and retain Massachusetts Class A/CDL Vehicle Operator's License, or be willing to train and qualify for a license within 12 months after assignment to the classification. External candidates will have up to 6 months to obtain.
  • Possess and retain API 1104 welding certification
  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a certified welder
  • Must have high school education or equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate mechanical ability, and keep required records satisfactory
  • Must be regular in attendance and have the ability to safely perform work assignments.
  • Must be in good physical condition
  • Must be willing and able to accept emergency assignments, call-outs, and work overtime.
  • This position is subject to DOT Anti-Drug Plan and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Plan (AMPP) regulations

Vacancies will be filled in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

SCHEDULE:

Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 20 minute on-site lunch period. This schedule is subject to change for operational needs and in accordance with the Labor Agreement.

WAGE PROGRESSION:

Eligible for increases to max wage rate in accordance with the labor agreement.
