Description:

Mercy Medical Center a member of Trinity Health Of New England is looking for a Security Officer I to join our Security team. Our vision is to provide state-of-the-art healthcare to those within our local communities, creating a positive impact for each individual that walks through our doors.

The Security Officer I performs general security work in the protection of persons, property and the enforcement of all applicable policies, rules and regulations of the department, Mercy Medical Center.

  • Excellent Attention to Detail: Checks to ensure hospital entrances, doors, and windows are securely locked. Inspects equipment, machinery, alarms, sprinkler systems and so forth to ensure all are properly working. Notifies appropriate personnel of problems as necessary.

  • Exceptional Patient Care: Provides for the safety and security of all persons and property for patients, visitors, and staff on the hospital campus. Escorts patients, visitors and employees to hospital parking areas or through buildings as requested.

  • Technical Familiarity : Responds appropriately to and carries out proper procedures for the Emergency Operations Plan, Security Operation Plan, and Emergency Codes.

  • Active Teamwork: Maintain a safe environment. Performs other special assignments as requested.

Requirements

  • Work requires a high school level of educational development and up to one (1) year of previous work experience in security or police functions plus three months of on-the-job training and orientation.

  • Certification as a security officer or graduation from a police academy preferred. Knowledge of security and law enforcement practices a plus.

  • Ability to produce a concise and accurate report.

  • Working verbal and written knowledge of English language is required. Bilingual capabilities in Spanish preferred.

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license for travel to and from other Mercy Springfield facilities as necessary. Must be at least 21 years of age to operate a company vehicle

Work Hours/Shift:

  • 16 hours – Weekends
