Scope of the Job

The Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution, steam delivery and waste water disposal in facilities, buildings and equipment.

Education and Experience:

High School/GED, Degree requirements, prior experience.

Must possess required licenses.

Must be able to read, write and interpret English language.

Basic computer skills preferred.

Competencies and Skills:

Duties require decision making regarding the solutions to problems not normally encountered. Employees must determine appropriate actions to be taken to achieve required results.

Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment.

Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the plumbing trade.

Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes.

Knowledge of the mechanical operation of equipment such as pumps, boilers, heaters, and other plumbing components.

Skill in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of plumbing systems.

Willing to work any shift and overtime as required.

Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work.

Must be highly safety conscious.

Exposed to high voltage electricity.

Complete all company mandated training as required.

Participate in and follow all company initiatives.

Candidates will be trained in range cleaning and fork truck operation.

Must successfully complete all technical, administrative, and interpersonal training programs to satisfy Participative Work Team objectives and become a multi-skilled team member.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Work to all national, state and local codes

Work safely at all times and be certain that others working with you are working safely also

Layout, design and install new lines for pneumatics, hydraulics, steam, potable water, process water, sprinklers, sewer, drains, etc.

Repair of all existing lines and devices for pneumatics, hydraulics, steam, potable water, process water, sewers, drains, etc.

Assist in the design, layout and engineering for the installation of new systems and devices

Follow all company policies and regulations

Always leave work areas in a workman like manner (neat & clean)

Complete all work orders in a timely manner and include all pertinent notes, part numbers, etc.

Must be able to read blueprints and schematics and comprehend them fully

Assist HVAC tech, electricians, machine techs and any other maintenance function as needed

Work with outside contractors as needed

Update existing blueprints and schematics as changes are made

May be required to work off shift or overtime as emergencies require

Regular attendance (as described in our policies) is required

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

Within any of our facilities, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required: Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor

The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
