We are seeking a Homeownership Advisor for our Homeownership and Financial Education department. The Homeownership Advisor will provide a range of pre-purchase counseling, loan administration and foreclosure intervention services. This is a full time position. Responsibilities Include: Provide in-depth counseling and education to first time home buyers, including guidance on home ownership, mortgage application and approval processes, post-purchase strategies, mortgage default and foreclosure prevention; Cultivate and maintain leads pipeline to ensure customer satisfaction and progress. Meet with potential first time home buyers, perform assessment of home ownership readiness and commitment; Perform financial assessment including: employment, household debt, disposable income, and goals; analyze to determine (fitness) to purchase and recommend best course of action for customer; Counsel and educate customers on credit, debt reduction, and strategies for maintaining sustainable, positive cash flow and pro-active identification of barriers to home owner success and help develop comprehensive budget for customers; Educate customers on state and federal programs, associated attributes, conditions and eligibility requirements; Administer current programs which may include American Dream, Home Modification Loan Program, Get the Lead Out, affordable mortgage programs, etc., as assigned by assisting customers with purchase process; Assist home owners and buyers in the restructuring of household budget, coordinate resolution of financial barriers to home ownership and purchase eligibility coaching on credit, negotiating loan modifications and/or refinancing options with lenders; Remain current on trends and developments in homeownership programs and service offerings, eligibility and related guidelines. Ensure compliance with HUD, DHCD, state & other applicable regulations; Establish and maintain strong relationship/partnership with lending institutions; Perform outreach to community agencies and industry partners as needed; Create and maintain accurate, timely, and detailed customer records to ensure compliance with program regulations and maximize reimbursement; Inform the Manager of any issues that may adversely affect the department or the organization; Establish and maintain strong relationships with HOME staff and external business lines. The ideal candidate will have homebuyer education, foreclosure and/or mortgage lending experience. We are also considering candidates with teller or banking experience, teaching or para-professional experience. Candidate must have no other personal or financial interests that could influence or appear to influence the exercise of their duties at Way Finders. All Homeownership Advisors must obtain their HUD Housing Counselor certification within 6 months of employment. Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Candidate must be detail oriented and have demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Must have a willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include occasional evenings and weekends. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication. Bilingual verbal and writing skills preferred. Wage between $17.83/hr and $21.40/hr depending on education and experience.
