JOB SUMMARY
Work with Level IV Lead Field Service Technician on installation, troubleshooting, repair and inspections of conveyors, hoists & cranes and other material handling equipment as required.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop ability to efficiently track a conveyor belt with supervision.
Develop ability to troubleshoot issues and perform corrective action on material handling equipment with supervision.
Develop ability to perform overall conveyor maintenance on schedule and as required with supervision.
Develop ability to repair and inspect overhead bridge cranes.
Develop anility to use a multi-meter to check fuses, troubleshoot contactors, verify power, troubleshoot 3-phase motors.
Ability to respond to break down calls 24/7.
Be able to work 40-50 hour per week or more if needed.
Act professionally with dignity and respect.
Ability to communicate clearly and precisely with customers and any other personnel.
Ability to work within the safety guidelines of customers, Adaptec and OSHA; always operating by the most stringent of safety protocol.
Develop ability to perform installations, preventative maintenance, and field service repair on material handling equipment with supervision.
Ability to appropriately document all work performed (i.e. Field Service Reports / inspection and audit forms).
Preferred basic knowledge of welding tools and processes.
Develop ability to perform mechanical work including fabricating, welding, and painting.
Other duties assigned.
SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB
Complete field service reports and expense reports immediately
Must be a team player
Attendance and punctuality are required
Must own basic hand tools
Must have a clean driving record and ability to comply with DOT regulations
Must be able to pass DOT physical
Requires overnight travel for field service work, preventative maintenance visits, equipment installation and troubleshooting
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, or equivalent
Zero to three (0-3) years of millwright/mechanical maintenance experience
Equivalent military experience
Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge
MENTAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS
High mental and visual attention is required for planning difficult work methods and sequences to obtain size, shape or physical qualities of product. Extremely close visual attention is required (such as making delicate adjustments to control high-speed operations). Very precise muscular control and/or extremely close visual attention required for making delicate adjustments to control mechanical operations.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, sit, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, use fingers, grasp, feel, talk, and hear. Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Most work is performed in a typical manufacturing/production environment. However, employee could be subject to adverse environmental conditions such as: noise, vibration, hazards (moving mechanical parts), fumes, odors, dust, oils and weather elements.
MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED
Ability to use computer/tablet, installation equipment, phone and copier. Daily use of hand tools, measurement instruments (such as indicators, calipers, micrometers, tape measure, scales, etc.). Develop skills to use power tools to include drills, grinders, welders, impact wrenches and more. Develop skills for use/operation of heavy equipment such as forklifts, aerial and scissor lifts.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the wage range for this role is $20-$25 an hour. The hourly rate range provided is a general guideline.
