About Us:

Mainstay Supportive Housing and Home Care, Inc. has been providing essential human services and housing programs across Massachusetts since 1975. We specialize in offering permanent supportive housing and compassionate, person-centered home care. Our programs have helped hundreds of individuals lead productive and stable lives in their own communities. Originally founded to support individuals with mental illness, our mandate now includes a wide variety of vulnerable populations, such as low-income elders, people with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities, and the recently homeless.

As a Home Health Aide, you would provide 1:1 care to Residents in Spencer, MA and the surrounding towns. Services are provided in the client’s apartment. Clients have varied degrees of independence and a variety of support needs, including aging in place, mental health issues, and physical disabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage Positively:Build genuine, positive relationships with clients and their family members.

  • Provide Direct Care:Assist clients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, exercise, feeding, toileting, and medication reminders.

  • Household Assistance:Help clients with laundry, cleaning, and meal preparation following dietary plans.

  • Companionship:Provide mindful and fun recreational activities during daily visits.

  • Documentation:Maintain daily service logs, track goals from the Plan of Care, and record service delivery using the GPS system.

  • Health Monitoring:Report any changes in client health status to the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Education:High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience:1-3 years working with individuals with a variety of disabilities, preferably in a residential setting.

  • Certifications:CPR and First Aid certifications (or the ability to obtain them within the first 30 days of employment).

  • Licenses:Valid driver’s license.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Team Player:Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with families, support staff, live-in staff, and nurses.

  • Technical Skills:Basic computer literacy for data recording, electronic time and attendance software, and email communication.

  • Learning and Adaptability:Ability to learn and adhere to MassHealth Group Adult Care Program (GAFC) procedures and policies with support and training from your supervisor.

  • Client Engagement:Enthusiastic, open to new ideas and experiences, and willing to ask for and provide help.

  • Confidentiality:Maintain confidentiality and use good judgment in all decisions.

  • Communication:Share ideas and opinions appropriately and understand that mistakes are opportunities for learning.
