The Davenport Companies is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our business & accounting team. The Payroll Specialist assists in the preparation of payrolls & helps to ensure proper payment of wages & salaries by using the company\'s computerized payroll system, (UKG) to correctly & accurately process salaries & reported hours worked, along with the appropriated deductions & withholdings. The Payroll Specialist will also perform Human Resource responsibilities & assist in all new hire processing, onboarding & benefit administration. Payroll Specialist Daily Operations: Assist with New Hire processes; reviews all documentation while aiding with onboarding & other Human Resource responsibilities as needed. Supports payroll processing by reviewing reports of hours, pay rates, & any benefit changes or additions. Reviews & validates Vacation/PTO balances Processes wage garnishments, employment requests or inquiries received Assists in all benefit enrollments (medical, dental & retirement plans) Assists in audits, quarterly & year end reconciliation Provides phone/email support to team members regarding inquiries & discrepancies General office duties, recordkeeping, answering calls, greeting applicants or employees, filing & handling employee complaints & resolve discrepancies May be required to work an occasional varying schedule to reflect business needs Payroll Specialist Qualifications: Able to multi-task & remain flexible Must be able to perform basic math skills Must be patient, compassionate & empathetic Ability to work with others & communicate effectively Responds to management directions, takes responsibility for own actions, keeps commitments, follows instructions & works independently in both Payroll & Human Resource functions A working knowledge of Word & Excel is required Ability to relate to others to establish & maintain good working relationships Demonstrates the following competencies: Analytical ability, Customer Service, Good Oral & Written communication; Maintains Confidentiality; Listens & gets clarifications; understanding of how & when systems integrate. Ability to solve practical problems & deal with a variety of concrete variables.
