State of Massachusetts Residential Supervisor II in South Hadley, Massachusetts

The following information provides a detailed, but not all-inclusive, list of responsibilities to be fulfilled by the Residential Supervisor II. The Residential Supervisor coordinates, implements, and supervises the administrative and clinical operations of the homes, including residential program development and implementation and/or compliance of policies, regulations and procedures. Other duties include promoting principles of normalization and dignity, and providing for the welfare of individuals by making personnel recommendations for hiring and promoting staff; supervising and evaluating support staff; maintaining adequate staffing patterns; and ensuring a safe home by participating in and supervising the day-to-day interactions and activities of the individuals. The Residential Supervisor provides staff training; assesses individuals' needs, abilities, and the resources needed to develop therapeutic programs in community living skills. Participates in the interdisciplinary team, coordinates and participates in Individual Service Plan (ISP) implementation; develops, implements and maintains data collection and records. The Residential Supervisor monitors and evaluates the physical operation and maintenance of the setting; monitors residential budgets; maintains individuals' funds; assists individuals with expenditures and money management, and acts as a liaison to adjust personnel and ensure effective communication between staff. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have (A) at least four (4) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in counseling, guidance, teaching or therapeutic services for individuals with developmental disabilities, of which (B) at least two (2) years must have been in a supervisory capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A Bachelor’s degree with a major in social work, rehabilitation, psychology, sociology, human services or education of people with physical and/or learning disabilities may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience. II. A Master’s or higher degree in social work, rehabilitation, psychology, sociology, human services or education of people with physical and/or learning may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience.
