Assistant Director of Campus Diversity Programming Job no: R-0000001557 Position Title: Assistant Director of Campus Diversity Programming Faculty or Staff: Staff Full Time or Part Time: Full time In-Person, Hybrid, or Remote: In-Person Minimum Starting Rate of Pay: \$59,762.00 Rate of pay commensurate with experience Job Description: Reporting to the Director of LGBTQ+ Initiatives and Resources, the Assistant Director of Campus Diversity Programing will provide advanced, complex and varied leadership in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of programs and events to promote diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategic objectives as it relates to the College?s strategic plan and in collaboration with the Alum Association at Mount Holyoke College. As a core member of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team, the Assistant Director supports the coordination of essential campus programs through hands-on leadership. This includes program development, ideation and implementation. Major Areas of Responsibility: Strategic, collaborative, identity-affirming, anticipatory and responsive programming is a vital function of the Assistant Director of Campus Diversity Programming role. The Assistant Director will support programming that happens across campus through various departments, offices, living and learning communities and cultural centers. The Assistant Director of Campus Diversity Programming is a valuable member of the DEI team who creates annual signature campus-wide programs to increase community building and cohesion; supports the work of the DEI team by cultivating response-based programming for significant campus climate issues; collaborates with the Alum Association by providing trainings and additive programming; and, collaborates with centers and other key departments to envision and execute meaningful events focused on advancing equity on campus. This is a full time exempt level position. Some evening and weekend work is required. Qualifications: A master\'s degree is preferred or a combination of a four-year Bachelor\'s degree plus relevant experience; 1-3 years of experience in working with diverse populations in specific roles related to education, training and programming. Experience working directly in DEI education, programming and support as either a professional or a graduate assistant is an expectation. Demonstrated understanding of, and support for, key precepts in diversity, equity and inclusion and an ability to support others in creating diverse, equitable and inclusive work environments. Strong special event planning and execution skills. Strong public speaking and presentation skills. Sensitivity to and understanding of the varied perspectives that faculty, staff and students bring to their work, including academic perspectives and experiences deriving from race, socio-economic status, ethnicity, ability, gender, religion, sexuality and other intersectional identities. A strong respect for diverse viewpoints and populations. Be able to travel both domestically and internationally as well as work outside of normal business hours as needed.
