Pelican Products Standards Technician in South Deerfield, Massachusetts
OVERVIEW:
Enters and upkeeps Engineering Standards Data and related information. Performs diversified computer-aided design/drafting duties working from sketches, concepts, to prepare drawings, Bill of Materials, routings and performs other similar duties necessary for all standards related to Pelican Package Engineering.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Enters Engineering Standards into the Engineering Database for use throughout the Pelican Engineering disciplines.
Indexes Non-Disclosure Agreements into appropriate database for verification and documentation of customer-requested product and design data.
Develops Bill of Materials, Routings and Materials as part of the process.
Works from a variety of specific project assignments requiring independent work.
Measures customer equipment with basic measurement devices. Works from rough customer and/or internal sketches, verbal descriptions. Generates CAD drawings with details as appropriate. Reviews and verifies detail with the Project Engineer/Product Manager; makes modifications and changes based upon detail review.
Identifies unique components for purchase and custom-made components for procurement internally and/or externally.
Discusses and incorporates agreed upon changes in design and details with Product Manager/Project Engineer and customer as appropriate.
Discusses with Engineering unique components with internal and external sources such as mold maker to ensure process continues in efficient manner. Works with external vendors to ensure unique components are purchased and/or custom made as needed.
Works with production personnel as needed to ensure internal process control and meeting of customer requirements.
Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Associates degree in Engineering, Technical Certificate or equivalent experience.
3-4 years’ experience; minimum 1 year as drafter.
Working knowledge of Measurement tools including: Measuring tape, ruler, and Vernier micrometer.
Working knowledge of CAD modeling and Drafting Principles. Solid Edge preferred.
Working knowledge of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system. SAP preferred.

Must be able to travel, nationally and internationally, as necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
