SOUTH DEERFIELD PLEASE SEE WEBSITE FOR FULL JOB DESCRIPTION Purchasing Manager OVERVIEW The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the timely and effective sourcing of equipment, goods, and services. Performs strategic procurement activities across multiple categories, finding the lowest TCO(Total Cost of Ownership) and successfully negotiating with suppliers. Analyzes inventory and production projections to anticipate optimal levels of inventory to meet production and operational inventory goals. Effectively coordinates shipments and collaborates with internal departments to support business functions and ensure expectations are met. Plans purchases strategically to achieve financial delivery and objectives. WHAT YOU\'LL DO: Develops, leads, and executes Purchasing Strategies, tracking key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve customer satisfaction while assessing and mitigating risks. Forecasts price and market trends to identify changes of balance in purchasing-supplier effectiveness. Accountable for analysis, development and implementation of management strategies and tactical plans related to all aspects of Procurement cycle. Develops, communicates, and reports supply chain metrics and understands demand requirements to decisively resolve supply chain constraints. Evaluates vendors and shipping companies based on quality, service, and pricing, establishing relationships, and negotiating contracts for maximum profitability. Develops a strong, disciplined process for make to buy analysis including a supplier database by process. Manages the small business utilization program with small business liaison officer. Regularly works closely with vendors to drive improved vendor performance and address quality issues. Performs root cause analysis for stock outs, missed deliveries, and non-conforming product to proactively drive permanent solutions and process improvement. Calculates and manages safety stocks and determines quantity and timing of deliveries. Receives and reconciles inventory and invoices and maintains data integrity for purchasing parts in the SAP Max Inventory Management System. Drives improvements through a structured approach and tracks progress of key initiatives through project management principles (i.e. detailed project plans, team meetings, action items and key stakeholder updates) WHAT YOU\'LL NEED: Bachelor\'s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent, preferred. Demonstrated experience with LEAN principles in a manufacturing environment. Proficient in SAP with demonstrated experience playing an active role in transformation, optimization, and/or implementation initiatives. Minimum of 5-7 years experience in Sourcing/Procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment Experience with MRP systems, Kanban management and consumption-based buying Demonstrated background leading teams, coaching, recruiting, training, problem-solving tools, time management, prioritization coaching experience. Advanced experience in manufacturing technology, materials and assembly processes Advanced knowledge of international procurement procedures and practices. Excellent at negotiating favorable terms and conditions involving many parts and supplies, as well as can determine appropriate methods of procurement. Proficient in computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Must have exceptional written, verbal communication, presentation and training skills. Must be detail-orientated, organized, and able to prioritize workload. Experience leading and managing change. Sense of urgency and results driven PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings.
