As our Site Manager, you will play a critical role in Citizen Schools' effort to expand the traditional learning day in the Somerville Public Schools to provide hands-on experiential learning experiences to middle school students.
Our Site Managers partner closely with community partners, corporations, and individuals to connect students to caring Career Mentors in diverse career fields. Every student in our program participates in two 10-week apprenticeships each semester to develop real-world learning experiences to prepare them to become the next generation of leaders. Each semester culminated in a showcase called a WOW! Event and it's designed for students to teach back what they've learned to their community.
You will also manage a team of AmeriCorps Teaching Fellows to serve as second-shift educators who will lead classes, enrichment activities, and apprenticeships in partnership with our Career Mentors. During the school day, Teaching Fellows offer targeted academic support to students. After school, Teaching Fellows coordinate and implement our signature apprenticeships with volunteer career mentors to support the development of students' social-emotional skills and their interest in future college & career pathways. Teaching Fellows communicate regularly with students' families and school partner staff to collaboratively support student learning & well-being.
LEAD - Supervise a team of 5 educators and Career Mentor volunteers who inspire up to 200 students.
IMPACT - Inspire students to set and achieve ambitious academic and personal goals.
TRANSFORM - Grow as a leader and as an educator while re-imagining the school day.
We seek a stellar instructional coach committed to delivering high program quality, conducting regular classroom observations and a deep passion for holistic feedback to support the development of AmeriCorps Teaching Fellows. You will be an ideal candidate for this position if you are a natural connector, culture champion, and comfortable working with a school community while balancing the needs of different stakeholders. The Site Manager will also be an innovator, creatively seeking and designing new ways to engage students, school leaders, and community partners in the Citizen Schools model.
This position reports to the Director of Program, ELT. It will be based on-site at one of our Somerville Public School partner locations.

Instructional Leadership - Serve as an instructional leader for the Citizen Schools program at your campus. Model high-quality teaching, conduct classroom observations, and provide constructive feedback to staff and volunteers. Support curriculum planning and drive towards increasing student literacy. Attend school-based planning meetings with teachers and facilitators to ensure best practices.
Program Quality - Collaborate with school partners and Citizen Schools staff to manage student and program data in order to drive student achievement. Implement initiatives to increase impact through high-quality apprenticeships, student retention, and focus on academic outcomes. Support staff in setting ambitious goals and ensure their completion through the implementation of an action plan.
Operations Management - Manage day-to-day campus operations, including logistics, materials, and student procedures. Ensure the safety of all program participants and compliance with Citizen Schools, state, and local standards.
Event Management - Support planning and execution of all campus events, including: end-of-semester WOW!s, family events, teacher appreciation events, on and off-campus field trips, apprenticeship field trips, and staff appreciation events.
Campus Culture - Model and encourage a strong, positive campus culture. Support students, staff, volunteers, families, and school partners to actively engage in the Citizen Schools program. Take a strength-based, inclusive approach to relationships and culture-building. Celebrate success and highlight small victories.
Stakeholder Management - Develop and maintain strong relationships with teachers and administrators. Manage effective family engagement and communication practice that supports the development of meaningful relationships with students and families. Increase community participation by building trust and facilitating site visits, events, and local partnerships.
Leadership Presence - Inspire others by modeling outstanding performance and calm under pressure. Express confidence in self and others, as well as a strong belief in the Citizen Schools program as a vehicle for student success. Relentlessly focus on goals and the vision for sustained success.
Staff Development - Serve as supervisor, coach, and mentor for a team of first- and second-year educators. Inspire volunteers to engage deeply in their apprenticeship experience. Encourage staff to pursue professional development that focuses on individual and team goals.
Performance Management - Conduct detailed performance reviews for all direct reports that identify strengths and areas for growth. Address performance challenges as they arise and prepare for potential staff transitions. Regularly update staff and team on performance and progress to goals.
Team Building - Participate in annual and ongoing talent selection for both campus and regional teams. Give clear, accurate, and helpful feedback on candidates. Support recruitment and retention of staff and volunteer Career Mentors.

At least two years of experience working with students, teaching experience preferred
At least two years of professional, post-undergraduate experience required
Spanish language skills preferred

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This is a full-time position with an annual salary range of $57,000 - $62,000; compensation is competitive with similar roles at non-profit organizations of comparable size.
